Arsenal Interest To Force Carles Puyol Decision - Report

Post by projoe »

Arsenal are trying to tempt Carles Puyol to join them on a free transfer next summer and want him to experience the Premier League, according to a report.

Arsene Wenger is a big fan of the whole-hearted Blaugrana skipper and would pair him alongside Thomas Vermaelen in a new look defence, Sport state.

Puyol is currently waiting to see what is on offer at Camp Nou as his current deal is due to run out at the end of this season and nothing has yet been decided.

Both the player and the club have stated that they want to resolve the matter, but agent Ramon Sostres has stated in the past that his client needs assurances about his place in the team.

Under Pep Guardiola, Puyol has remained the captain but has been shunted around the back four and also rested for games when he felt that he should have played.

The news that Arsenal are now interested might be a ploy to force Barcelona's hand, but if a concrete offer comes in then things may move beyond the European champions' control.

Ryan Giggs as Centre Back. Yeah I heard that too!

No more or less likely than Puyol!

There is no cure for the media in this or any other country. They know football sells and so they just make up stories. Proof of that is The Sun today, that claims eyeing Eboue as a back up full back, after they 'MISSED OUT' on some player who The Sun haven't realised they SIGNED in the summer.

When was the last time taht the media were correctly speculating almost FOUR MONTHS before the end of the transfer window on who Arsene Wenger would buy?!!! :banghead:

If Cesc will sign for Barca next summer there might be a little chance to sign Puyol (plus 30m). But I hope it´s not gonna happen
