Rosicky's contract

The problem we are going to have is come january if Rosicky has been playing ninety minutes regularly and stayed fit the fact that he's been out injured for nearly 2 seasons will have been totally forgotten by his agent.

He's obviously a class above most of our players he knows that, his agent knows that and other clubs know that and there is more than a few out there that will be only too happy to take the chance and offer him a fat new contract, especially knowing he is going to be on a free, so his agent will have some bargaining power.

Anyone who thinks he's just gonna take a reduced contract or a contract with all sorts of clauses in it just because we have stood by him through all his injury problems should think again and remember we had a similar situation with Rvp last season, the minute he strung a run of games together after constant injury problems he wanted his new 80k a week contract, or he was off, i see a similar situation developing with Rosicky..

So as i said before this is a difficuilt situation for the club they are going to be over a barrel if Rosicky stays fit for the next few months and i don't think we could blame them whatever ends up happening.

Why should he accept a reduced contract?

He's a professional footballer, chances are most of them will have a pretty serious injury in their 15 years or so as a pro.

Clubs that sign players know this, you pay a contract for a human being that can be injured, its part and parcel.

He shouldn't have to take a wage cut, he owes us nothing if the injury was genuine.

In comparison we have theo who, in his comparitively short years is already clicking up time on the injury slab, should we lower his wages?, eddie's? etc.

It's all in the game and these guys should be payed injured or not, its in their contracts

I don't know if this is a reply to what i wrote or just a general reply.. i'm not suggesting Rosicky should accept a reduced contract, his priority is to earn as much as possible for his own benefit, i understand that ..i'm just saying that anyone who thinks he and his agent will be thinking that they should are kidding themselves.
But saying that there is two sides to this and the club on the other hand i think are within their rights to hope that Rosicky and his agent have a modicum of restraint in their demands, not just because he hasn't played for two years but because it's a big risk for the club to give him any length of contract, considering the injury he had, the length of time he was out with it and the uncertainty of it having a possible career ending recurrence.
Hopefully both parties will be able to meet somewhere in the middle of what their expectations are, but knowing the mentality of most footballers and their agents and knowing how careful we like to be, i'll expect the worst and hope for the best..

Hmmm, two expensive players to tie up to new contracts in Gallas and Rosicky.
Now what's the betting this will be the reason given for placating the fans that when there are no signings in January (except Vieira)???

It was a reply in general and i hope we do give him a new contract as well as gallas, not sure its the players in general though who are the real greedy ones.

Agents are the ones who it is in the best interest to renogotiate new and bigger contracts as well as transferring to other clubs.
The players i am sure want some sort of stability in their life and upping sticks every year or so can't be good. Agents stay based where they are and dont go through this upheaval.
