A few drinks at Villa Park next week

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I am going to that pub for 2 reasons. One being that I don't know pubs in Birmingham so have to have one recommended. The other, and the main reason is that it is where my mates have decided to go. I'm sure me wanting to drink in the same place as my mates make me a sheep, but what can you do?

Enjoy your drink in the perfect pub. I hope you manage to keep all the undesireables out. Are you sure you really want to go to the game though? I'd imagine it will be difficult for you to know that what might be a good day for you will be ruined by being in the presence of the underclass.

You have contempt for people because they like to drink lager. That is so pathetic it is beyond belief. I have contempt for people that look down their noses at others because they like something different to themselves, and who decide that people are basically scum even though they dont know the first thing about them.

And no I'm not touchy, there's just something about little brained tossers making stupid remarks that annoys me.

you work in pub that is in good beer guide but dont know pubs in birmingham and dont know how to find one other than by recommendation ? that makes you a part time supporter who has not been to games in area previous and an even bigger moron than i first thought if you know of no other way to find pub.

i`m no snob but one of the attractions of away games whether here or abroad is trying the different beers or in porto the port (where again loads of gooners could be seen drinking the same crappy gassy lager that they could drink in their local boozer) and to me people who travel and dont even try local stuff are morons- just the same as anyone goes abroad and wont try local food.

and given that you dont know how to find pub in birmingham, if you did gooner away euro game i would lay down bet you would head straight for the irish pub in town centre and drink the same rubbish as at home.

and another thing if this post had started with question- do you know good place to park? would you tell anyone if you knew. you would be bloody idiot to do so.

you carry on being sheep. i`ll carry on being independent.

am now going to pub to drink decent real ale while you will no doubt be burbing and farting as you swallow the same shit that you always drink. maybe you talk shit because you drink shit

and finally as i have wound you up so easily i suggest you need anger management counselling. have a good weekend sheep.

still as one of the few gooners who can claim to have been at whl both in 71 and 2004, anfield 89, and muppetland in 2002 and travelled among other places to moscow and kiev to see our team, even had wedding reception at highbury, i can live with morons like him calling me tosser

and i still ain`t going to ruin my time at the pub by telling everyone about it. baaaa.
Rolypoly, please tell us what pub your going to, just so we can avoid it.!!

are they not selling beer in the away end then? What about a couple of lagers, ales or G'n'Ts there before stumbling to our seats. Just for the record, I prefer a sherry.

HULLO GOONER MC.

i am pretty confident you wont find it without me telling you the name and without a shepherd to lead you.

obviously historic pubs serving quality real ale and quality food are of no interest to you which is great for those like me who love such pubs by which i mean it wil not be overcrowded

as for the response generally , if the lot of you were fish rather than sheep you would not survive long in the water - talk about mr angrys swallowing bait hook line and sinker.

enjoy your trip to villa, enjoy your overcrowded pub enjoy having to shout cos you cant hear each other speak enjoy your crap mass produced chemical filled gassy lager enjoy fighting to get to the bar and waiting ages to get served enjoy drinking out of plastic glasses - as you all say each to their own.

signing off as getting bored. replies devoid of humour and imagination.

With a name like 'rolypoly' that pub must be near a mcdonalds. Isn't 'rolypoly' a name from a kids show??, maybe the muppets!. Real 'ale' man don't forget your anorak, tweed jumper, pipe, glasses and a pair of comfortable shoes!!!. I can just smell the corned beef sandwiches from here. Shit mate, let's hope the schools have kicked out before you get there!!!.  Apparently though, this time of year, trips to Eastbourne are 2 for the price of 1, that means you'll be able to take your boyfriend for nothing!!.

People can call me a lot of different things, but part time fan is certainly not one of them. Now you need to run a list of matches you claim to have gone to to make yourself feel like a valid Arsenal fan. I do not need to do this. I know people who have never to a match. They are no less of fans than people who go to every game. You're saying I'm a part time fan because I've never been to Villa Park. All that does is confirm what I said about you being a snob.

Tell me something, if I go to a pub suggested by redaction that makes me a sheep. You, however, say I should go to a pub suggested in the good beer guide, would that not make me a sheep also?

When I go for a beer before football I like to be in and around fellow Arsenal fans. Have a chat, a laugh, and (whisper it) maybe even a bit of a chant up (sorry, I know that must disgust you). Until there is an entry in the good beer guide that suggests a pub I can do this in, I will look elsewhere for somewhere to drink on a match day.

Finally, if someone asked me about a good place to park, of course I would tell them. I always try to help people when I can. Do unto others etc. Would you not sharing that information be another part of your childish "I wont share my toys" attitude, or is it because everyone else other than you are all road rage loving drink drivers who will ruin your lovely car park experience?

hullo rilo

you must be a saint. your lack of selfishness unlike my look after number one attitude is admirable.

could you please publish for the benefit of all gooners on this website your parking tips for all remaining games this season and indeed for home games.

Rolypoly, I like your style! Are you related to Jens Lehmann by any chance?

First of all, thanks for ignoring my first three paragraphs, and focusing on the tiny side point you bought up, rather than the actual issue we were talking about. I'd imagine that was because there was nothing you can say because I'm spot on.

Secondly, I'm afraid I can't offer any parking advice. I am lucky enough to live within a 30 minute walk of Ashburton, so parking has never been needed there. On the other hand, I am not lucky enough to be able to afford the luxary of owning a car, meaning that for away games I have to use trains or the travel club coach (now that's travelling in style).
