Gunners’ glass is half full (8/3)
usual thread starter... as this piece was written by a fan that has been a Gooner since 1954, i think he's a valid source for a bit of perspective on things. are we the best team in europe? we are not the best team in england at the moment. think we're all looking forward to stepping it up a bit next season and even in exit, we are still, somehow, unbeaten at the new stadium and it feels like i've seen a lot of matches there already.

22 hours on from desolation, I'm beginning to recover and am grateful for contributions such as that from Clive.
There have been times over the years when it was infinitely worse to support Arsenal, with no prospect of any future - think of the last 'Fortnightus Horribilis' (I recall that was 1980) and you'll know what I mean.
Nevertheless it hurts to have been dumped out of Europe by such a poor team - albeit one mastermided by a technical wizard who must have researched Arsenal's weaknesses in depth (though they are pretty obvious really to everyone). PSV's away performance in their home leg completely baffled us with no opportunities for the quick break. Ho hum.
However, the team do still need to refocus and keep ahead of Bolton...otherwise the potential fan suicides (and inevitable prawn-flavoured defections) could significantly reduce the '60000'.

It wasn't even a fortnight back in 1980 proudto'!!!! Lost the FA Cup on the Saturday and then the cup winners cup on the Wednesday!!! Five days, that was a nightmare!
I can live with losing the Carling Cup Final, going out of the FA Cup and Champions League and I'll tell you for why; we don't (Lehman excepted) have anyone at the end of their careers. Hopefully this experience will put fire in our youngsters bellies. Next season is gonna be good, let's remember we still have 2nd or 3rd in the league to play for too!
