Worst place you've ever played?

Inspired by the worst away ground thread. What is the worst place you've ever played football at?

For me it would be Malahide in Dublin back in the early 1990's. A posh (ish) town but all their money went to the towel flickers so the local football team had no showers and the pitch was beside the one chav housing estate in the whole town. You'd often have crunts throw bottles over the wall from the estate onto the pitch during a game. And it always seemed to be raining and windy there too.

Close second (maybe level worst) was Tallaght (one of the roughest areas in Dublin). Games there nearly always ended up in a fight with the local hard men on the pitch. It was also the only place I've ever seen a referee get punched spark out during a game. We even had one game interupted by a local joyrider (Dublinese for car thief) driving onto and then doing "donuts" on the pitch for about ten minutes until the cops showed up and chased him off down the road...

When i played Sunday morning football we used to play on a pitch that had to be searched before we could play one morning apart from the usual dog shit and glass there were needles from the local junkies. Our manager kicked up such a stink after that we never played there again must admit i didnt do any slide tackles that morning

Gotta be Knocknaheeny in Cork for me (just ask Rebel or Barry!!). We got stoned by kids as we were getting togged off and during the game had to worry more about getting assaulted by the spectators rather than the opposition!! Total intimidation. There's a huge wall behind one of the goals which had a Galatasary inspired "Welcome to Hell" spray painted in huge letters!!

Fuck me noone needs that shit on a Sunday morning!!!!

Stopped playing properly when I was still in my teens so pretty much all the shit places I played at didn’t seem that bad as a kid.

Played a couple of county cup finals at Craven Cottage & 1 at Griffin Park (Brentford). Wasn’t that they were shit places to play, obviously at that age it was the opposite. But when you’re 11 playing on a full size professional pitch it can be a bit of a joke. Hardly any of our corners even made it to the near post. Wait, that’s not much different from Arsenal now!

I played for an Adult team when I was 16 after playing in the mornings.
Had to go to Garvaghy Road Portadown (Look it up) and play a team, there were boys standing glue bags and all fighting on the way into changing rooms!!!, needless to say when we went 2 nil up there was a few scuffles and we were basically told to throw the game.

A few years after that had to play in brownstone estate also in portadown which was the home of murdered LVF leader Billy Wright, so after being fairly quick playing on the wing, getting kicked and smacked everytime i went on a run and a guy on the sideline who looked like andre the giant the result was less important to us. We won 3-1..

This was around the height of tension in NI and I was playing for a country team of mixed religion to help my mates out.... (So no one liked us)

I played in goal in my younger days. There was one place in Ware which was used during the week by a local farmer for grazing his cows (saved on mowing I suppose)(( Not on mooing though!)). Each goal had a shovel behind the net to remove cow pats and sometimes thet didn`t all get shifted . Also, the New River ran along one end. Any ball that missed the goal with a bit of pace went floating off towards Waltham Cross!

Parsloes park - Dagenham.

Used to have to play there quite regularly - pitches were awful (rabbit holes, bottles needles etc.) and even had a teammate dislocate his knee due to falling down a rabbit hole while running with the ball.

It was always good for a punch up. I played there again a year back for my brothers side after a 10 year absence. It kicked off on the pitch next door and one bloke ran off to his bag and came running back on the pitch with a large knife. It was a very nostalgic day

actually, it's funny you should... nah, I didn't.

I'm not as injury prone as you'd think. You have to remember Frank, I'm 42, been playing 35 years mate. So if you space out my serious injuries (by serious I mean broken bones or bad ligament damage) over that time frame it's about one every 6 or 7 years. Which ain't bad. So I'm not due another serious one until about 2014 or so...

I'm not as injury prone as you'd think. You have to remember Frank, I'm 42, been playing 35 years mate. So if you space out my serious injuries (by serious I mean broken bones or bad ligament damage) over that time frame it's about one every 6 or 7 years. Which ain't bad. So I'm not due another serious one until about 2014 or so...

I've just started playing again after a year's break (after an injury) I must be a glutton for punishment, coz I was playing Vets football (over 35's) and now playing in an over 18 league, and I'm 45.

It's bloody hard, takes about 4 days to recover from a game, but I love it.
