Should be a great match, I am looking forward to it. I'd like to see a strong Liverpool team and I think it will be one because Benitez will want to build a momentum after beating Ma Utd and will also be looking to avoid an embarrassment from our youngsters. Because let's face it, Liverpool youngsters would get thrashed by our ones so expect to see some familiar faces, just like the last time we them in this competition.

It'll be a real test for our young players but I am confident.

Tempted as I am to say the entire 11 from this week, would go for
Fabianski (since Almunia will bottle it)
Hoyte-Silvestere (oh help us)-Senderos-Traore
Ramsey-Nasri/Gibbs-Merdia
Wilshire-Eduardo-Nic
I don't expect us to win, Benetiz will have a stronger bench then us and has used the likes of Maschero, Torres and Gerrard in Carling Cup games before I think. What I want are performances to say to Wenger "I deserve a place" and want the team as a whole to compete

I'll go with that - lets see a performance with a bit of passionMagic Hat wrote:Tempted as I am to say the entire 11 from this week, would go for

I think we'll play Coquelin because we need some defensive cover in that midfield. I can't see use playing both Bendtner and Eduardo but it'd be brilliant if Eduardo got a chance to play through the middle for once. He is a fox in a box, not a winger.no. 1 is Perry Groves.... wrote:I'll go with that - lets see a performance with a bit of passionMagic Hat wrote:Tempted as I am to say the entire 11 from this week, would go for

As far as I remember we played 4-3-3 against West Brom. Sunu as the right forward, Traore as the left forward and Watt through the middle. To say the truth, I don't think the formation we play makes much difference. The whole concept of 4-3-3 was so romantic after Barcelona's success last year but after seeing unsuitable players playing in the forward trio, reverting to 4-4-2 wouldn't be bad at all. Especially with the likes of Nasri and Rosicky coming back. For the Liverpool game, I'd first look at the personnel available for the match and then try and adapt our formation to these players. And I am not sure about Nasri or Gibbs as our defensive midfielder, that's a potential catastrophe right there.Magic Hat wrote:Nasri or Gibbs would act as my dm, I like the look of Coquelin but not sure he is ready.
I actually expect Gibbs at leftback amd if Traore plays, it will be on the wingThink Wenger will go 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 as he did against WBA?

Good point. The thought of us playing Almunia & the scum playing Bentley is a bit trotts-inducing after last season, but it’s still not as bad as the thought of Nostrildamus keeping his place.g88ner wrote:Should be a good match.
I'd play Almunia in goal, as a good perfomance might give him some much needed confidence... also, he NEEDS to get his head right before the Sp*rs game, which he might be recalled for based on Mannone's 2 howlers in 2 games.

If I thought that playing a few of yesterdays team would give them a much needed kick up the arse then I would do that in a heartbeat. Too many of our "stars" seemed to have forgotten that workrate and commitment are two of the most fundamental traits needed in a winning team
The downside of that is of course that you will be punishing the kids and preventing them from getting their usual carling cup runout
Because I would play mannone in goals v the scum I would also play him wed nite cos he needs to get his head sorted out - as they say, when you fall off a bike then you have to climb stright back up again
After that you have to be looking for ramsey, vela, wilshire, nasri and senderos to get some much needed playing time but knowing wenger it wouldnt surprise me if that didnt happen either
