Why are some of our fans such a disgrace???
G67, the thing with the PSV game is i was gutted, i didn't leave to catch a train or beat the crowds. I left because i was physically drained and gutted that our season was pretty much over. In hindsight i wouldn't do it again but in that moment i was devastated. Anyone that doesn't put there heart and soul into supporting the club wouldn't understand and that's why these 'fans' who criticise piss me off big time. We'll be at Villa standing shoulder to shoulder and willing the boys on, how many of these 'fans' who critcised us will be there with us??.
I wa one the the late gold members ones, arriving dead on kick off time. This was due to BR terminating all trains at Reading at 5PM due to a fire at Burnham.I then had to get the train to London Waterloo and then across London on a packed undergtround , getting off at Caledonian Road then legging it to the ground.Every home game takes me 2 hours there and back as i come from Swindon.
When we beat the **** i missed the last train back to Swindon, i had to get a train to Reading then taxi home, cost an extra £65.I got home at 3am to get up at 5am for work.
Yes i left early weds because i didnt want to miss my last train home .I might even had to endure the trip to waterloo again due to the earlier fire .
Weekend games i stay to the end and then have drinks in the Che Guevara or holliway road for a couple of hours.
I been to a few away games this year including wba, Liiverpool as wel as Porto and PSV.Villa,Liverpool and pompey coming up.
Mid week games are a nightmare but my passion for the club means i travel 2 hours each way and leave a few minutes early which is better than not watching the game live and losing money on my ticket.
So let not tar every body with the same brush there are genuine supporters who love to stay to end at every game but circumstances dictate that they can't

Ok. You are excused. But what about the other 40000....? PS Saw us lose 3-1 at Swindon once. Puts losing to PSV into perspective!HORSE wrote:I wa one the the late gold members ones, arriving dead on kick off time.

I disagree. The atmosphere against PSV was absolute shite. I think the fans felt that we had already gone out. Normally for Champions League matches and the big games in the League the chanting goes up a notch.Gooner_mojo wrote:The atmosphere was amazing against PSV, everyone got behind the boys

You can't exactly say it was 'absolutely shite'. Ok maybe it wasn't amazing but it was the probably the best atmoshphere in CL so far at the grove, and it was way better than most home games we've had this season. The place was rocking after we scored and where I was sitting there was a lot of singing. Anyway, forget that, my main point was about people leaving early.Dicko wrote:I disagree. people have always left early - it was the scale that was so disappointing - at least 20k - theres no excuse, are you a supporter or not? I got the sleeper back to Devon and I wasnt alone - arrived home at 5.55am - got wife and kids - work at 8am - so fuckin wot! - I dont want a medal - its my choice and its what I do coz I love Arsenal Football Club - home advantage matters in football and its mostly down to the fans - I didnt see 20 K leave early against Spurs in the cup - funny that ! We need supporters - make your mind up!
The atmosphere at both Liverpool and Man Utd in the league and even Spuds in the Carling Cup was better than against PSV. I'm in Block 2 which is not the most happening block
I did try - on my own. So nowhere near you Stays till the End.
Yes a knock-out competition is not the best one to go leave early at is it? With the amount of goals that do get scored in the dying minutes it is amazing so many people leave early.
Ashamed to say I was at a mates for New Year's Eve party instead of seeing John Jensen score

Stop all this slating our own fans...
We are no worse than most prem clubs and better than some.
Arsenal got a reputation in the media for being quiet simply because someone realised that highbury rhymed with library!
Things won't get better if we publicly slag our own fans off all the time on radio or our own forums. By all means make your feelings known to people at the emirates but at the same time give credit where its due.
I know its frustrating sometimes to put up with the new style arsenal fan but they are still outnumbered by the old school and they do bring in revenue and they do support (in their way) our team
Be proud of the following
1. We have several areas at emirates where individual sections sing, the stadium is large so redaction people may not appreciate it but there is singing in parts of all sides (you may not hear the west side as we face the pitch and away from you). Compare this to other prem clubs where away gooners are nearly always singing and taking the p about the home teams support
2. Arsenal have, despite 2 seasons of relative underachievement and no trophies(harsh but true), sold out all 60000 tickets for each home game, whatever competition. What other club would do that?
3. Slate other clubs. What about the geordies and M'bro in the so called hotbed of football in the north east? Midweek euro games there have more empty seats than one of our youth cup games! They are beyond criticism by the media because it clashes with the myth that they so so so love football up there. There is the renowned morgue that is old trafford, and even spurs singing at WHL in the cup semi was well unimpressive
4. What about the "champions"? How many midweek games have they had where there are banks of empty seats (granted that this is far more attractive than them having the usual morons who sit there)? How many times do they advertise on the radio or E standard to sell tickets on general sale with each person restricted to 4!!
5. Away support. How many teams below us almost always sell their away allocation like we do? Chelsea sent 13000 tickets back for one of the charity shield games! They often fail to sell their away allocation. Clubs generally sell their allocation to the emirates but thats only because it is an attractive place to go compared to other inaccessible shtholes like WHL
So lets leave all the slating of fellow arsenal and the competition to see whose the best supporter and who gets home latest etc.
We are still The Arsenal, we are unique supporters , be proud.
