As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
patience and jens are not the you words i thouht id ever see in the same sentence
he didnt look very happy on the bench last night
he must know his career is on the way out, id still prefer him in goal then almunia but then id prefer if wenger went out in jan and bought someone great because i dont thrust either keeper this season, i know almunia is doing well but great keepers keep you top
I don't think there is any chance he was mis quoted. I Googled for german sites, my German is v. poor but the same story is all over the german press too. I know the press are only one above Tottenham but they all seem to be saying the same thing.
I was ready to support Jens' fight for number one, but no more after he issued threats to destabilise the team. He should know better than to fight for a place in the papers.

Probably because when it comes down to it, AW is as pragmatic as the next manager and won't cut off his nose to spite his face.
And while I think Jens has taken this too far with his references to the boss and how he will talk about his treatment, AW understands that some of this is down to German logic and expression. Jens has credentials, a CV if you like and he reckons that Almunia doesn't, therefore is is inconceivable to Jens that Almunia should be ahead of him and even more so that with his experience he should be treated in, as he see it, a disrespectful way.
Of course, football isn't real life and much of it is just big kids bonding, and Jens doesn't do bonding very well.
I like Jens and think he is better than Almunia, but maybe Almunia is better for this team?

Galasso you have hit the nail on the head the success of this team has been built upon team spirit.Henry was one of the world"s best players but the team is playing better without him.Does Lehmann think by running to the German press Wenger will bring him back.Lehmann is worried about one thing his German career not the success of Arsenal,if he was he wouldn"t keep slagging Almunia off
Between Jens and Manuel, there's no question for me, Jens is still the superior keeper in terms of ability, even while he's on the decline. But Jens' stupid comments mean that is less of an issue now. What does he expect to achieve saying stuff like "I think - and this is aimed at my dear manager - one shouldn't humiliate players for too long. It's possible that some day I'll feel like talking about the whole issue"?
Totally agree with TS, augie etc that Jens has made a big contribution over the last few years (that penalty save from Riquelme in the CL semi-final being the most obvious example) but, even accounting for his mentalist ways, he's going too far now. It's a cliche, but the team is more important.
Although it's been clear for a while he'll be gone by next season, I hoped he would still be with us till the end of this season, even if he didn't get as many games as before. But, by pissing on his manager, his team-mates, the fans and his own achievements, he's engineering a January move to ensure he keeps his beloved Germany No1 shirt.
If he can't show a bit of dignity and class, to go with his technical ability, fuck him.

I like it
This is based upon the assumption that Jens was patient in the first place
It's like asking Keith Richards to lay off the weed for a while (or IHH)
SORRY, NO CAN DO!! AND THAT ALSO APPLIES TO LEHMAN! IT'S JUST NOT PHYSICALLY OR PYSCOLOGICALLY POSSIBLE FOR ME TO DO SO OUTSIDE OF THE SMALL TWO HOUR PERIOD THAT I'M IN THE STADIUM WATCHING THE GAME!! JUST AS IT'S IMPOSSBLE FOR LEHMAN TO SHOW SOME DIPLOMACY AND TACT!! WHAT A WANKER LEHMAN IS!!
