Im in the realist camp as most of you know but im not sure if im going mad in my old age but i think we could do something big this season.... Not sure im with Brazilian and the treble bollocks but we are playing well and getting results even a bad one against West Ham we still didnt lose we have key players playing well and injured players coming back.

I still think we are suspect defensively although strangely i think our defenders are good just think we dont defend well as a team also i think Almunia is average at best shocking at worst so we could definately do with signing someone there also id still replace Song as i think we could improve.

Anyone else agree and starting to believe? Am i going mad or just king of the rosetinters again  maybe its the lack of sleep.
Well fuck me  I think I'm turning the opposite way  into a moaner.

In other words a repeat of 2 years ago.

How alive Wenger is to this scenario will decide our fate.
I agree  Well said.

Anyone expecting us to spend anything in the January transfer window is seriously deluded.

We have a nightmare fixture list at the end of January - start of February:
playing Villa away, Manure home, Chelsea away, Scousers home (not to mention the fa cup and CL ties following it).

If we'll be within reaching distance from the first place, I think we've got a real chance.

The sign of a team that can compete for the championship is one that can win when not playing particularly well...

...and, would it not be fair to say that, until the rather fortunate opening goal, we were not playing well today?

My next game is the Chavs and if we beat them convincingly I might become a bit more optimistic but as Daniel says the massive test for this team is mid Jan to mid Feb, in the space of 5 weeks we could go from contenders to also rans.

I've always maintained I base my immediate expecations on the current form of the team.

And right now, offensively zero worries. Even if we lost 4 from the current crop.

Defensively I'm hugely concerened.

Fair enough it may be a consequence to the way we play that the oppo will get a fair few chances. But that shouldn't be at the start of the game, before we have had a chance to impose ourselves. In the first 20 today Wolves threatened enough to have me concerned in a pub watching the game with no sound. We offered fuck-ish all offensively and still looked shaky on the D.

Now that can't be right and seriously needs to be addressed.

I don't know why anybody is concerned about buying players in January. Does anybody really think AW will spend? I don't.

I think we have a real chance of doing something great this season. Hopefully we can stay consistent, keep pouring in the goals, and take care of business 3 points at a time. 8) :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Frankly, I'd expect better from a Texan.

Since when did offense ever win championships?

Because of what happened in 2008.a couple of signings in january to a team that was top of the league and we would have won the league we didnt and finished 3rd.We dont have a good keeper at the club and if Gallas or TV get injured we are left with Silvestre and Senderdross. That is why we have to buy

I fully unterstand why we have to buy, but going on past experiences like you just mentioned he hasn't bought anybody and can't expect him too change. I think in his mind he feels that if we can keep up scoring goals and points then there is no reason to buy. He really believes in this group of players and its going to be tough to change his mind about this squad.
