As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

i agree davey, but i just get pissed off that every goal we concede it instantly gets blamed to almunia no matter what actually happened.
You can see the defenders would rather have Almunia in goal compared to the others by how many times they back passed to him in the match.

It was my fault. The phone was for him and he was coming over to answer it but the caller said it was ok and that he'd ring back in a bit after the match was over...
or a bolt fell out of the verminator's neck and he had to bend down and pick it up so he lost his man
their goal wasn't almunia's fault
Did I not start that sentence by stating that somebody (turns out to be TV5) had lost craddock and allowed him a free run ? I think you will find that I actually did However what I also said was that almunia's positioning for the goal was fcuking woeful and I suggest that you watch it again (in slow motion if need be) and watch the clown trying to scamper back to his line He was coming for a cross 2 yards further back than where the cross was actually delivered to and I defy anybody to disagree with that assessment. Would he have saved it if he was positioned better (by being in centre of goals) ? I cant say but it doesnt take away from his shocking positioning

Is that a genuine statement or a piss take ?? Are you really telling me that you can judge how confident a defence is with their keeper by how many times they pass the ball back for him to kick the fcuking thing ? I know kicking a ball has grown in importance for keepers since the back pass rule change but it surely isnt more important to a keeper than actually making saves ? Anyway gallas and TV5 seemed to be passing the ball a hell of a lot between themselves at times so maybe each of them would have preferred the other to be in goals based on your arguement

Fucking hell Augie, 99 times out of 100, you're one of the most sensible posters on here, but what is it with the Almunia bashing. Put it this way - watch a DVD of all Mannone and Fabianski's combined appearances for Arsenal, add up all of the individual pathetic mistakes that have led directly to opposition goals divide the answer by 10 and you still have a bigger number than similar mistakes by Almunia in four years. He was as good as faultless yesterday
I would disagree with you on that faultless assessment steve o but lets face it he had fcuk all to do either. As regards comparing him to our other options for the position I would like to say that you are preaching to the converted mate. As far as I am concerned none of our current keepers are good enough right now although it is questionable whether any of our younger keepers might be good enough in the future. I find it a disgrace and embarrassing for a club of our stature, and with a history of having top quality keepers in our club, to have allowed this farcical situation to arise where basically we are now in
I think what we are all saying is that Almunia is not a world beater but better than our other options by a country mile. Personally the sight of Fabianski and Mannone in a Gooner shirt graced by the likes of Jennings and Seaman makes me sick, whilst Almunia fits into the Lukic category of keepers I like but will never be international class (dependable for the most part but not in the match winner category).
Still - who would we sign (and please no more Shay Given appeals. He is gone now to the land of the overpaid wasters)
Anyone else wondered why we didnt celebrate when we scored any of the goals yesterday? I know 2 were own goals but even when there were own goals you normally find the players celebrating, just worrying that there might be a feeling of unhappiness in the dressing room.......

for the 3rd goal when fabregas smiled to both sagna and vp pointed at them and then had a huddle how is that not a celebration? Beside it was against Wolves. Did u not see Fabregas face when he scored against Spurs?
I've often felt that Almunia gets a lot of unjustified stick on here but at times he doesn't do himself any favours. Personally I think he was in no man's land for the goal and in the first half he did exactly the same on another one of their corners. This comes on the back of the embaraasing goal he let in against Alkmaar when Harry's missus could have saved it.
Generally I don't have a huge problem with him but his decision making at times is very dodgy.
I actually thought Almunia did ok on Saturday, and i don't think the goal was his fault. As for the game itself i thought we did well to weather the storm in the first 25 minutes. After that the passing and movement was excellent.
The only downer on the day was the guy sat next to me. Not only did he talk rubbish the whole game but he told me to " calm down " when we went 1-0 up. So i let him know that i had paid just as much as he had for the tickets so therefore was entitled to celebrate when we scored.

That would ruin my game! did he just clap when they scored then?
