whos the worst commentator ever

I like Andy Gray, Pat Nevin, Jim Beglin and Alan Green - but then I do like a good whinge. Jonathan Pearce (esp in his old Capital Gold days) can be fun too - he always came across as very pro-Arse, though he's gone more respectable now he's on the telly.

Motson is the one I hate - the man's an embarrassment. Doesn't add anything in terms of insight, can't do foreign names and makes strange throaty noises while commentating. But perhaps something's happening off-screen.

Garth Crooks is ropy on post-match stuff. David Pleat is so bad, it's too easy to criticise him (plus his articles are pretty decent). David Platt doesn't know nearly as much as he thinks he does, and Paul Merson (altough he's improved) has been way too Old Skool Arsenal, slagging off the way Wenger's been taking the club.

Definately the Woman on match of the day! How many times can you call him the Chinese Captain or whatever she chundered on about!

Although in fairness she only does MOTD voice overs, so strictly worst commentator right now I think is John Motson. The man has completely lost it! It sounds like he is going to soil himself everytime someone shoots despite the fact that its sailing 30 yards high and wide!

Best commentator has to be Jonathan Pearce, especially for England matches

The best commentary team are Martin Tyler and Andy Gray by a mile

The worst are Clive "have i mentioned Manure winning the CL in 1999 yet" Tyldesley and David Pleat.

I used to like Barry Davies who was never afaid to tell it like it is.

As for pundits Wrighty and Shearer are shit

To be fair to the lady, she is good on radio, just bad on MoTD. I like Tyler and Andy Gray myself, I find Alan Green's rants to be quite amusing. The commentators at the woman's world cup were good, they should have give those two a try at more games, the ITV 2 guys aren't too bad. Hansen is, his bias aside, quite a good analyst.

Merson, Redknapp, Keys, ITV 1 guys are awful.

Worst- David Pleat/Lawrenson. Honourbale mention for Clive "Man United" Tyldsley..
I actually think Smudger's quite good..always seems pretty impartial and actually has an opinion on things rather than the "say what you see" approach of most pundits..
Obviously Kamara has to be up there but he always does championship games..love to see him do champions league or something!
Andy Gray and Martin Tyler have to be the best though..
