I still think he's our Ryan Babel. Potentially a very good player but injuries AND being played in the wrong position might be the reason he's not set the world on fire.
I reckon yesterday would have been an ideal chance to play him down the middle. I know he's coming back from injury but when the flowing football through midfield isn't working then having him as an outlet down the middle would have been ideal.
His pace is wasted on the wing cos all he does is fuck up the cross 8 times out of 10. Now is the time to do an Henry and convert him to a centre forward. He should try it against Liege.

Who?

Sorry but now I am fed up with him

Sell him, re-coup a few million and go out and by a player who CAN cut the mustard

Too much tittle tattle bullshit has been spared on Theo....let him have hos wish..let him join his boyhood loves.....the Scouse Red brigade.....

Firstly can I just say to martin hayes that in no way did I mean my posts to appear patronising and I apologise if it appeared that way. The truth is that I love using those emoticons and even get deeply frustrated when I cant use them when sending a text msg to my buddies

Anyway g88ner I cant help myself and feel the need to respond to your posts again (think I need therapy  ) -

The rep I was referring to with theo is not the media rep but the rep he has amongst the fans. How many matches have we been to when the fans start singing "theo theo" when in all honesty we dont do it for players who have contributed far more and are more likely to do so in the future as well.
I would also suggest that your comparisons with other players development at the age of 20 is somewhat misleading as well. We paid big money for theo and like it or not you expect better quality when you pay higher prices - you dont spend big money on a merc and expect it to drive like a skoda do you ?  Yes he may well develop into a superstar but the problem right now is that he isnt showing signs of developing down that road. For many of us he seems to be an older version of the speedy kid that joined us 5 years ago with no more tricks in his locker now than he had then. Yes he has to appear to be putting the work in on match days but wouldnt you agree that is the minimum expectation for each player not the maximum requirement ? Surely he has to show more that his game is improving all the time ? I dont think fans expect him to be the finished article right now but as I said before it just doesnt appear that he is even on the right road to getting there :o

Finally martin hayes I would like to say that I voted for giving the kid some more time but I will 100% stand by my assessment that my doubts on his future are far from the minority amongst the fans

He's not a boy is he !!! He's 20 and by that age most footballers who are any good have shown it.
I think that there is a reason there is an U20 world cup, U21 (Europe and effectively U23's anyway) and U23 (elsewhere) international teams. Remember Song at 20? How many here were going "going to be a good dm lads"? How many were saying it last year? How many last year would have rated Lennon as a decent crosser of the ball? Last year, he thought Cattermole could tackle without nearly injuring someone

Walcott is 20, he is still young enough to play another U21 tournament, maybe 2. His body is still growing and he still has much to learn, he may be like SWP and never be much more then a speed player or like Lennon, or Song or Cattermole he may find himself finding a new level in his play as he gets older

Slightly flawed arguement there magic.......while he has without doubt improved there still are not that many on here that believe song will ever be a good enough dm for Arsenal

Even though i believe he is little better now than when he arrived, i don't think he was a waste of money and if we sold him now we would still get more than we paid for him, although i do believe we certainly haven't got the most out of him and are unlikely to.
If he leaves and goes to a lesser club with less pressure and is allowed more freedom and time to build his confidence on the pitch, then i think we will see the best of him and then he will be worth a hell of a lot more than we paid for him or could sell him for now, that's for sure.

i don't see where i'm wrong. we're a team that won 18 major trophies in 110 years before arsène arrived. that means we won a trophy every 6.11 years. arsène has been here for 13 years, and in those we won 7 major trophies, which means one trophy every 1,85 seasons.

if you learned math in school, you'll realise that one trophy every less than 2 years is a lot better than one trophy every more than 6 years. but maybe that's too complicated for you.

or you guys know absolutely nothing about math, your you guys know absolutely fucking nothing about math.

we're a winning team, we always were, and always will be. i'm just saying we have the most successful man in charge of our team and are still impatient.

i know how GG was important to this team, you don't need to tell me. and i know his trophy/time ratio is also very good, which also shows how important he was. i know that.

just go learn some math, will ya? :banghead: :banghead:

you really haven't understood me. it's sounding like i think we were not a decent team until wenger. i know graham and chapman were as succesful as wenger, or almost as.

my only point is that we are living one of the most successful periods in the history of our club, and looking quite healthy for the future. and still, we're impatient.

that's all. nothing more.
