If Vela.........
is our version of Robbie Fowler, than i am giving Jessica Alba a large portion every night
I'm not going to bash the bloke, because that's not my style - but to be honest he offered very little upfront last night and didn't even look like scoring, he just didn't look natural and seems to be more effective when out wide
He won't be no fox in the box

I like him but he is not going to work in the middle of a 3 as he's not big enough, Wenger is taking plaing players out of position to the extreme, it's no longer just playing a right back in midfield or on left midfield, he is now shoe horning players into a set formation regardless of if they are comfortable doing it or not, it worked in time with Van Persie but I fear for Vela and Eduardo.
Did a great slice in the second half, destined to be on one of those crap Christams DVD's by Danny Dyer or Nick Hancock.

I like him and I think he'll have a future.
He needs more playing time as he did look rusty in front of goal. Moving forward in play he's quick and dispite his young age (20) seems more of a threat then Walcott.
We also have to bare in mind he's not been long back from a long injury.
So give him games and he'll improve....including infront of goal.
He also able to hold off players with strenght, whether that's due to his size I don't know. (?)
I remember when we played Man U last year and Vela moved his body around the ball, shielding it, and Paul Scholes was actually bounced off his feet!
I would agree with others that his not a leading striker.

Again I am confident that if he is given the same amount of chances that diaby and theo have been given then we will see a much improved player which is more than can be said about the other two
There is an old saying that it is better for a striker to be getting into good goalscoring position and missing those chances than not getting into them at all......not sure if I really believe in that but I will say that I do not believe that the dude is capable of getting into therse good scoring positions in the current formation and looked woeful on saturday.

Being the Arsenal manager, and a bloody fantastic one at that, then yeah, I'd have to say that I do listen to what Wenger says. Hope that answers your question!augie wrote:Chunky Monkey wrote:i don't think anyone is saying he isn't a good prospect - but Wenger compared him to Fowler and i just don't see it
Being honest and without wishing to seem disrespectful but does anybody really listed to the bullshit that wenger says anymore ?
