Thats good then. We are only the most exciting team in world football so I think I'm allowed to like the man who created it all.

IMO Vela had a good game and offered a hell of a lot more than Eddy did on Sat. He was very inventive and combined well with Cesc/AA and SN - something which Eddy seems to struggle with. Also, because he has played alot on the wing, he was interchanging regularly and comfortably with AA throughout the game which, if the service was there, would have caused a lot more problems than were witnessed.

he is more of a dribbler than fowler ever was and not as clinical (yet) as the coke head... but all the signs are encouraging. If it's a choice between Vela and Eduardo in a lone striker position, i would prob go for the former.

Quantify that statement please - I mean I know the world is changing but how does this team qualify as the worlds most exciting team ? :? Shitting yourself and dying a death in the big games that matter (fa cup semi last season, both champs lge semi games) do not make you an exciting team in my book anyway. If you want to look at a genuine exciting team then may I suggest barcelona who also play great stylish football but also actually win trophies into the bargain which of course is the priority

I would say that we are not the most exciting team...we are the "prettiest" but exciting? mmm, not really.

vela was anoymous, simple.

at the moment hes to lightweight.

he should be loaned to some shit team in germany (maybe netherlands or belgium even) and get toughned up. He needs to get used to taking a kicking and missing it with northern european lumps.

he didnt learn that in spain.

I was also going to mention Barcelona as the only other team who are as good to watch and as exciting as us. Due to our mindset of trying to attack in every situation I think we are the most exciting team in the world. If you would rather go to football and be bored to tears every week then that's your opinion, which is fine. I would rather go along knowing that I'm going to see something which supporters of other clubs can only dream of.

I thought some of his first touches last night were outstanding. His turn for that 2nd half chance was brilliant and he should have had a couple of goals. He will be a very good player

His movement was good last night, the formation doesnt suit his style (if he is meant to be robbie fowler can you imagine robbie playing upfront on his own??).

However he must learn to kick a ball with his right foot, defenders will quickly spot this and usher him always to his right.

Agree with this, thought he was really good without the ball in terms of his movement. Decent performance from Vela, nothing outstanding but contributed a fair amount.

Two quick responses andreys tounge -

1. Yes barca have style but they also have substance which whether we like it or not is something we do not have. Last season they had a much derided defence but their manager knew that he had to compensate for that with defensive strength in midfield and of course yaya and keita provided that. Sadly we do not have any physical strength in midfield at all and wenger has sacrificed that for the pretty football that you refer to.

2. I have supported The Arsenal for over 30 years now and from the time that I started supporting the club I have always heard the fans beat the drum about the traditions of our club. In those traditions we were known as boring Arsenal and lucky Arsenal and we were hated by all and sundry outside of our own club but we did not give a flying fcuk cos we were successful and carried the flag as Londons most (only) successful side 8) I am damn sure that when the mancs and chav fans see their teams capture another trophy there are not too many of them wanting to change places with us just cos we play lovely football  In the past wenger has been able to produce lovely football and trophies and in an ideal world we would all want that but the practical side of things requires success as number 1 priority. I have fcuk all time for people who tell me that watching beautiful is the priority as that line of bullshit has traditionally been the reserve of deluded *word censored* from the 7 sisters

Marcangels didnt wenger once say that everybody thinks that they have the prettiest wife at home

I think we need to recognise that he is still young, and needs plenty more games. The majority of his play was good, but against better defenders that could be considerably different.

Lets give the boy sometime, he not in our first choice 11 anyhow.

:barscarf:

Liar!! :-P

On a serious note, we havent been successful for the whole time though have we, if we are working on the last 30 years (your timeframe), since 1979:

1979/80 - Nothing
1980/81 - Nothing
1981/82 - Nothing
1982/83 - Nothing
1983/84 - Nothing
1984/85 - Nothing
1985/86 - Nothing
1986/87 - League Cup
1987/88 - Nothing
1988/89 - League
1989/90 - Nothing
1990/91 - League
1991/92 - Nothing
1992/93 - FA / League Cup
1993/94 - Cup Winners Cup
1994/95 - Nothing
1995/96 - Nothing
1996/97 - Nothing
1997/98 - League / FA Cup
1998/99 - Nothing
1999/00 - Nothing
2000/01 - Nothing
2001/02 - League / FA Cup
2002/03 - FA Cup
2003/04 - League / FA Cup
2004/05 - FA Cup
2005- Present - Nothing

Now the most boring period would have to be considered the 1980's, which is the longest trophy drought. I hate this boring = success argument, it has absolutely no substance.

We all want to win something, thats obvious, I'd rather try and do it by playing the way we do though, instead of having to sit through a load of long ball ball shit which probably wouldn't get us anywhere either.

Boring does not equal success and on that point we are 100% agreed but what riles me is when I read comments excusing our lack of success cos we play nice football

Coming from a sp*rs town it was always sp*rs fans that covered up their lack of trophies when i took the piss by saying at least we play good football now we are saying it :banghead:

Pretty football is nice for a neutral but it only goes so far for a fan IMO
