I'm struggling to even comment on that debacle yesterday. If ever the phrase 'men against boys' was valid it was yesterday. Our players literally just bounced off theirs in every tackle. Dogbreath won and controlled some long upfield punts that he shouldn't have even got near. Physically they were superb.
They just have that little bit of knowhow. They know how far they can go before the foul and they stop just short but do enough to knock players off balance etc. That's not dirty and it's not cheating. It's just very good play.
I cannot understand why we kept crossing into the box. We didn't have a prayer of winning headers in there. Eduardo is only about 5'10" and Arshavin is 2' and a chocolate digestive high. What's the point of crossing. Several times we could have pulled the trigger earlier but we didn't. We have to learn how to do that more against teams like this. They easily restricted us to the long range effort so lets have a few goes from long range. One might go in and change the game. Is it really that hard.
I think yesterday proved what some of us knew. We won't win anything this year. The prem is all but gone now as I can't see the chavs losing four whilst we win every game. To win the CL at some point you have to beat either the Chavs or Manure. We can't do that. To win the FA Cup it's pretty much the same.
Rosetinters prepare. May is going to hurt!!

May and possibly every month between now and then :(

I will say spuddy, seeing as you mentioned the rosetinters, that it slightly pisses me off that they go awol from here on days like yesterday. When we do well in a game most are on here after the game discussing the good and bad points after each game even when the rosetinters start prematurely crowing but somehow they cannot bring themselves to show their face when we are putrid like yesterday. If they came on here once and while and actually criticised our players when it is obviously merited then they might actually gain some respect and some might be fairer to their opinions when the boot is on the other foot

Totally agree very strange they have gone missing just like their favourite players did yesterday  but you can guarentee they will be on later saying this forum is over the top in criticism after 1 loss, when after 1 win against shit opposition they are telling us how "brilliant" the likes of Bendtner are :?

I think the crowd, us - we - were worse than the team yesterday. A few anemic efforts at lifting the team but there was an air of resignation even before the first goal went in. This team needs confidence to play as a team, when they lose it they become a team of weak individuals. They lost a big chunk of that confidence with RvP getting injured. They've lost their teeth, their most ruthless grown up player. We as SUPPORTERS did little to help raise that confidence yesterday. Yes, the team were disappointing, but so were we.

i do not know about the other rosetinters, but the reason i disappear after defeats like yesterday is because i'm in such a bad mood that i will change my usual debating to swearing, and i don't want to do that. i just want to forget about football for a few hours. i'm disappointed, i obviously see a few terrible issues like our defensive frailties and the ridiculous goalkeeper we have, and, worst of all that (since i always knew that our defense was half-good and our 'keeper was no good at all), is that i'm disappointed with eduardo. i know exactly the kind of player he is, and truth is, he is underperfoming. i am 100% sure that he can do a lot better than that, he can play against the likes of terry, he has that quality. i don't know if it's lack of match sharpness, if its his fitness, i don't know. but i'm upset.

there are two kinds of reactions now - one, which is what most of the people here decided to do - put our hands in our heads, say we're doomed and call for the manager's head; or, we can try to make that team work. there's a good base there, i don't think our central defenders are bad at all. the fact is that traoré is never good enough to play against chelsea, everyone knew that, even wenger, but we're so lucky that we lost both our leftbacks at the same time.

i have a lot of other things to say, but i'm too upset. i need to take my mind off for a while, the pints of yesterday were not good enough. will watch some movies today, so maybe tomorrow i can be back at full strenght

BG - Try to make that team work?

Isn't that what Wenger's been trying to do for ages? You can't polish a turd!
We look good against some of the poorer PL teams but when we come up against a decent team we struggle like anything.
4 defeats already, that is quite likely to extend to somewhere around 8 defeats (at least) before the end of the season - that is more than usual and shows that it's very possible that 4th place is in doubt.
Sorry, but my mind is made up, the only way to get out of this is to move Wenger into a Youth development role (which is his strength) and bring in another manager. Otherwise all we'll see is yet more extended contracts being given to the average players that keep failing us.

teecee, i understand your frustations after a horrible match, but we don't need major surgery to become a brilliant team. look at our best eleven, in my opinion: almunia; sagna, gallas, vermaelen, clichy; song, nasri, fabregas; rosicky, arshavin, van persie. of those players, the only one i consider to be not good enough is almunia. add a few better replacements for when those fellas get injured, and that's a title winning team, no doubts about it. i agree signings are necessary, but we don't need to trash the team and manager and build from zero again, the quality is already there!!! we just need a few adjustments - a cover for song, a new keeper, and someone who can please identify why the fuck chelsea have all their players available and we don't a single decent left back fit!

Tinpot I dont mean to be having a pop at the rosetinters at all. All I am trying to say is that, for just yesterdays game, they could come on here and acknowledge our glaring weaknesses and poor performances. I am not asking themselves to sacrifice their whole belief system about the team being headed for great things but just come on here and be honest on just that 1 game. As I said before they would get more respect on here for their positivity if it wasnt so blinkered to believe that everything is rosy and stick their heads in the sand if evidence shows otherwise. Even though I am one of those who believes song is not good enough I am still prepared to come on here and speak positively when he has a good game so I dont think the same level of honesty is unreasonable in return

I do agree BG, totally.....but we've been saying the same thing for years!! We have been three or four players away from being potentially brilliant for 5 years but Wenger NEVER makes those signings we need. We've seen recently that he's given improved contracts to some of those 'average' players, which means he is not even thinking of replacing them, that's why he has to go.

Give them time then. I would also like to here what they have got to say, but the game was only yesterday. I'm sure the majority of them only post during the week.

I agree with the majority of what you say. I dont see how we can be ruled out of the other 3 compitition we are in when its only november, but I get your point.

Walcott annoyed me yesterday, I really fail to see what he brings to the team other than headless running, and crosses into the box which never beat the first man. Rosicky offers much much more than Walcott does, and id even have Eboue over him on the right -seriously I would!!

Chelsea were just much better than we were, its as simple as that really - yes we missed VP and Bendtner up front but the game reminded me of the United semi final last year - we couldnt even get near their box.

Dispointing, what i think we lack is we cant seem to get a win quickly after a defeat (Chelsea and United have both done that thi season). I dont understand why people on here are feeling sorry for Fabregas - he was as liable for the defeat yesterday as anyone. We came out fighting second half which was pleasing, but the cold hard fact is we didnt have enough.

Maybe individually, player for player our "first 11" doesn't stack up too badly against the others but as a team, as far as having the right balance of those individual players, the ability to work as a unit (especially defensively) & having the right attitude/fortitude we're a cuntry mile behind the Chavs right now. Admittedly three quality signings could change all that dramatically but three players is over a quarter of a side, meaning we're obviouslty quite a way short of where we need to be.
