The January sales

Post by 26may1989 »

Only 9 or 10 weeks to go now, before the next transfer window opens. Any views on players we should sign or players we will sign? Or, given our stellar opening to the season, whether we need to sign anyone at all? And will Jens and Gilberto really leave before the end of the season, and could they be joined by anyone else?

A star is born - although it''s bound to raise a few eyebrows among some!

Likely to be very effective at corners :)

I always get a grown up to help Smoothie, it's not just the scissors, doing up my apron can be quite problematic too

The main position that worries me is keeper. jens is going one way or the other. Manuel is not world class and we haven't seen enough of Fabianski. Buffon has been mentioned a couple of times but I don't seriously see him leaving Italy. Gordon might be available in the summer if Sunderland go down.

Other position I have worries about is striker. Not sure Ade is going to make it, but is Bendtner better?

Will be amazed if gilberto doesnt leave in the transfer window and to be fair we cant really expect him to sit on the sidelines at his age for the season. As we already have a few thousand centre midfielders I cannot really expect us to buy a replacement although that probably means we'll buy at least 2 more. Any incomings will probable depend on "the jens factor" - if he keeps his head and stays then wenger will probably stick with what he has otherwise a 52 year old or 16 year old replacement will be bought  Like many others on here though I would like to see another striker come in

do we see arsene wenger buying someone :?:
if it was a wish list then kaka, richards and buffon as said earlier would be ideal,, we all know that aint goin to happen,,, as augie rightly sad it will be some unknown 16 year old.. sprry but as a starmaker the man has no equals but wouldnt it be nice to sign a star for a change,, yes we are top and yes we are unbeaten but for how long with our squad,, gilberto will prob leave but that area well covered, what happens when kolo leaves in jan and gallas gets injured,, gael gets injured and we throw in traore, and we do need a keeper badly jens is fu*king mad and atfer his words about arsene then might never play again,, alumia is just not good enough for a top team and fabianski wasnt bought for this season

In my opnion the goalkeeping position is the 1 position where we shouldnt be applying our "we dont buy stars, we make them" ethos. We need a top top keeper who is ready to step in now and give us that confidence at the back again cos no matter what anyone says we the fans are still nowhere near convinced about almunia. The thing about the players loyalty to wenger cuts both ways that and on occasions it appears to me that wenger wants to show too much loyalty in almunia rather then go out and buy a top top keeper. The problem is that by now most of the top keeper are cup tied for europe so it leaves the potentail signings pool very limited(given is the only 1 I can think of) so it looks like we are stuck with almunia
