Was i watching a different game?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Was i watching a different game?

Post by onemoreminute »

Quote in the Sun today ref Jol's departure:

Things did not improve when, having dominated much of the game, Tottenham went on to capitulate at home to bitter rivals Arsenal.

Much of the game? When was that? Maybe the first 15 mins, after that it was it was like a training session!!!

:D :D :D

Haha your right, except we don't train with trained monkeys with 6 left feet, although it would be effective practice for those all-important NL derby matches

Jol was peddling that line over the last couple of weeks, saying that Spurs all but beat us. Deluded would be a generous description, though obviously he was doing what he could to cling onto his job.

They had chances to win the game, he had to try and take the positives out of the game

But come on, do you really think they dominated the game?

I agree, this was Jol just trying to cling onto his job - bottom line is he lasted longer than he should have done, should have been sacked as soon as he tried to get his fat head in a baseball cap. END.

Looking at it objectively I feel a bit sorry for the guy.

He's got them to 5th place two seasons running, when at no point have they ever had the remotest chance of a champions league place.

Once Spurs got the extra income from the TV money I think he was pressured to throw silly money at average players by the board.

I think also the oligarchy of the top four has increased, they had a faint hope that Arsenal would continue to decline. Even though our start has surprised many, I don't think anyone with any real knowledge of the game and the Arsenal expected us to not make progress on last year. Liverpool have had a flood of money from their US takeover, Man Utd. don't seriously look as if they're going to fall out of the top four and Chelsea have got far to much cash to capitulate out of Champions League contention.

With their sacking of Jol and bringing in Ramos their board are continuing to think that throwing enough cash around will solve the problem, £5m to get shot of Jol and £25m to bring in Ramos on top of £16m for the flop that has been Darren Bent.

And to think there are those who advocate that Arsenal should follow suit and throw money around like confetti (like a certain Jewish fellow from Totteridge!)

No

Cus, you act like he got anything more then a minor say in transfers but yes, I do feel sorry for him. He was a fan of attacking football and took Spurs to two 5th place finishes in conditions most will struggle in, he has my respect and good wishes.

Reports suggest he swore the place down after rumours that they had been talking to Ramos again
