Has anything been said about what was thrown at Adethewhore near the end of the game last night, just before a corner for us? Kompany took it to the ref. That's consecutive games...

:banghead:  :banghead:

It wasn't anything thrown from the crowd............I think his love eggs fell out

Kompany gave them to the ref who reinserted them after the game in his changing room

I don't think it's fair judging any of the players individually last night, we had what amounted to a cross between a reserve and youth team with a couple of first teamers thrown in, up against a side that will more than likely finish in the top 6, probably top four, at practically full strength, at home.
What exactly was everyone expecting to happen, the only way we were going to come out of that game looking good was if man City didn't turn up and i mean mentally not literally, although i don't feel they were 100% going for it, anything over 70% would have probably been enough to turn us over with the disparity in quality on the pitch.

When you put such an under strength side out it drags everyone down, as we saw last season when our midfield was decimated through the summer and we began to see midfields comprising of Denilson Song and Eboue, the whole team suffered as a result of just a few positions being weakened and we began to see players that had always looked quality looking a shadow of the players they did when we didn't have so many sub par players around them.

Now i'm not saying the players we had out last night are sub par, most of them are just not ready to be playing against teams of the quality of Man City yet, it would be bad enough if they were thrown in with an almost full strength first team, but to be playing with almost a whole team of players who are not ready to be competing at that level was always going to make them look a lot worse than they really are.

So i think we should just write it off as what it was a game in a competition our manager/club don't take any more seriously than an opportunity to give some of our younger and fringe players a chance to play some top flight football, and as in every other season we have done that, sooner or later we get what we deserve for employing that policy, i don't think we should blame the players for that, it's the manager that picks the team.

I think AW was in a no win situation with the Carling Cup, we all want a trophy yes but the league Cup would only be seen as a starter for future success.

But after going out like we did he has been pilloried for not taking it seriously. Mark Hughes is feeling the pressure at City and knows he needs to win something this season to justify his spending. The League Cup is the easiest cup to win and you could tell they simply wanted it more.

Incidently I saw this blog[/url] here quoting Arsenal fans from across the message boards - any online gooners quoted?
