Wenger shaking hands!?!?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Exactly, he admitted as much by saying he could shake hands with whom ever he chose to. So that means he made a conscious not to shake hughes' hand.

It won't keep me awake either LDB but it is indicative of Wenger's fall from grace!

Pathetic acts like this along with his bizzare and complete bollocks comments show him not to be the messiah he is still revered as by some.

His days of being the best coach in the game have long gone and instead of talking with his teams football and trophies he now spouts shit and spits dummys!

handshaking is an irrational protocol anyway that all too many follow without thought inc those criticizing him

would hughes rub noses with wenger if wenger was an eskimo - i very much doubt it.

congratulations to wenger on being honest and sticking to his principles- dont pretend to respect someone whom you don`t, and for good reason, simply because others expect it of you.
Bollocks. It isn't about liking or respecting the person. Wenger is representing our club in a very public forum. I liaise with some people I don't like or respect from other organisations but at the start of a meeting they offer the hand I shake it. It's called being an adult.
Furthermore - as much as EVERYONE Knows hughes is a totalCRUNT...The fact that AW was in charge of an Arsenal Team made up mostly of Young Gunners won't have been lost on many footie fans....

What would / could he say to Wilshere or Vela had they decided not to shake hands at the end of the game.....?? and should any Arsenal player be they 1st team or reserves etc not shake hands with the opponents...he cannot really say anything, because he has shown and set a Very Bad Example, I would have more respect for him if he had gone nose to nose with scumbag hughes and had a right verbal ding dong....now THAT I could and would Respect...and Applaude.

What this tells the world and his dog is that the pressure IS getting to him, which only adds to the oppositions confidence level...I wouldn't mind betting that Stoke will go all out to be even more physical this saturday....wind up AW and you'll wind up the players....

And THAT puts us at a great disadvantage...whenwe need every point we can muster! :banghead:  - now that we're out of the running for the title....we have to ensure we get in the top 3 (yes 3...fuck fourth leave that to the bin dippers!)...

Hughes abused him all game, ive heard a rumour that Hughes laughed when the city fans sung THE song that the United fans sung last time we were up there - so, if that was true, should Wenger shake his hand? Would you shake the hand of someone like that? Its not sportmanship, its personal abuse.
That would be fine if he didn't then drag the entire club into disrepute with him. If he had answered the press question with "He spent the entire game abusing me, why should I then accept an empty handshake? When he gives me common courtesy of staying in his area and refraining from abuse at me, I'll shake his hand" or some such, fine. It wouldn't look that great but I could understand a principled stand like that.

Just going "I don't wanna" on the other hand makes Wenger look a bitter loser and a rude chap. Also that he has only done it in last few seasons either suggests manager are ruder now or that Wenger is growing increasingly rude

ps: I may have preferred that he shake the sumbags hand...but I still stand by him...coz he's ARSENAL...and only Gooners have the right to have a go...it's like family/friends....take them on you take me on....so anyone not a Gooner aving a go can FUCK OFF!.......................

especially in light of THAT song being sung and Hughes laughing....

hughes deserves a song of his own...when mancshitty next come to ours

I hope Wenger didnt shake his hand because he was so angry at the run of results we have had he just wanted to get on the coach and back to London Colney to sort out the problems with creating chances and poor defending

You’ve gotta look at the press angle in all of this too. If Wenger and Hughes are the two school kids having a spat the wanker from Sly or wherever is the one that goes between the two saying “Guess what he said about youâ€

That is a totally different situation though Number 5!

These two guys are supposed to be equals if not Wenger the bigger man due to his long forgotten trophy haul.

I understand what you are saying, there may well have been some provocative comments by Hughes but that is still no excuse.

We can try and defend Wenger all we like but the fact is he acted like a spoilt kid!

"You called me names so I'm not your friend anymore"

We're they even friends in the first place?

In any form of sport you have to have respect for your opponent.

There is no moral high ground for Hughes here. He cannot behave that way then offer his hand and be surprised when no *word censored* is there to shake it.

As I've previously said, he'd be sporting one left hand and a stub if he tried that shit down the Power League.

I believe now more than ever that we will be shot of him by xmas or early january, what a wonderful xmas pressie thet would be and a great way to start the new year.
Your having a laugh? Who do you want as manager then?

Hughes abused him all game, ive heard a rumour that Hughes laughed when the city fans sung THE song that the United fans sung last time we were up there - so, if that was true, should Wenger shake his hand? Would you shake the hand of someone like that? Its not sportmanship, its personal abuse.

I think walking away its more of a manly thing to do than shake hands with an idiot like that., Wenger is honest as the day is long and not a hypocrite - a great man regardless of what you think of him as manager.

As regards to comments "he doesnt care about the fans" What bollocks, he has given us fans memorys no other manager has, yes we all want more, but comments like that are comments of a very fickle supporter.
As for who do I want as manager I've given numerous suggestions in the past, and quite frankly now, I would take just about anybody in order to see the back of Wenger.
As for the Hughes laughing at the chants, you have no evidence whatsoever to support that statement. I heard a rumour Wenger slipped his hand down shaun wright philips underpants, utter bollocks of course, but just as substantiated as your statement.
The fact is Wenger is one of the sorest losers in the Premiership, his comments after the Chavs game being a perfect example. No manager likes losing, however Wenger needs to accept defeat with the same grace he accepts victory, if not only because he is going to have to get used to the former.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO SEE THE BACK OF YOU?
I KNOW PEOPLE CAN HAVE DIFFERING OPINIONS BUT YOU SERIOUSLY DO MY F*CKING HEAD IN,ARE YOU SURE YOU'RE EVEN A GOONER ALL YOU EVER DO IS BITCH AND MOAN ABOUT EVERYTHING TO DO WITH ARSENAL.HATE WENGER HATE THE WHOLE SQUAD HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT US THEN WHY DONT U F*CK OFF DOWN THE ROAD TO THE OTHER SHITE COZ I DONT WANNA SIT NEXT TO YOU.
I DIDNT GET BACK TILL HALF 2 THIS MORNING AND YEAH I WAS PISSED OFF BUT GET SOME F*UCKING PERSPECTIVE WHO ELSE IS AVAILABLE BETTER THAN WENGER OUT THERE RIGHT NOW.

He talks like a *word censored*

He behaves like a *word censored*

He got treated like a *word censored*
