Not fit to wear the shirt? (9/3)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Shifty Gooner sounds like one of those ignorant fans who think a player has to turn it on as soon as he arrives from the club.

I bet you ShiftyGooner had a go at Pires, Bergkamp and Henry when they first came bcause they didnt turn it on straight away. I wonder if ShiftyGooner has ever played in a real football team??

...and this excuse about not cheering certain players on because they want 'better for the shirt' shows his ignorance once more.

I ain't sure shifty is being out of order. Let's face it, booing your own player is a definate no no. But having an opinion about whether a player is good enough to play in the shirt is fair enough. Surely booing a player can conceivably be as bad as not singing?

N13 Gooner.
Have I ever played in a real football team? Presumably that would be one that never stops singing and stays till the end.
All I am trying to say in these posts is that every fan has the right to an opinion. Whether you like their opinion or not is irrelevant.
My own opinion is that I do not care about individual players, I only care about the club. When Liam Brady left it broke my heart and from then on I only worried about the team, not the people in it.
If you want to cheer every player who plays whether they are any good or not, carry on, that's your right. But has it every occurred to you that the people who shout abuse do so because they care and are upset? With prices so high these days, I think that every fan who pays hard earned money to watch their team is a real fan
