By the way leftfoot I personally wouldnt give a fcuk if it was my brother in law or my brother who was captain of the golf club cos I would kick up a fcuking stink anyway

If it's monthly they should stop taking the money straight away. But then there is the issue of "agreement". You had an agreement to be a paid member until March. They are changing the agreement which may leave you a legal path to pursue.
We have a couple of solicitors on here (and a spoofer called rolypoly) I'm sure they could advise you...
i've been saying that for years. if everybody smoked a thin little spliff every once in a while, there would surely be no war, misunderstanding, hatred and other things i don't remember right now...I Hate Hleb wrote:As an alternative, he could just roll up a spliff and chill out a bit. Many Thanks for the offer, i could scan the terms and email them or something like that i guess.hatemanu99 wrote:Technically you can't just stop a DD without the payee's consent, however the bank usually let you do so if you tell them you have informed the payee. The 3rd party sound like arseholes though so be careful doing that as they may take action.
I could read through your membership terms if you have them as there should really be something in there stopping this sort of situation arising, although clubs usually cover themselves with some catch-all clause saying they reserve the right to change their rules, fuck over their members etc etc.
The third party in some clubs in Ireland is the Bank, usually a local Bank. They will have an agreement with the club to pay your entry fee or sub. Normally the Manager would be a member of the clubTeeCee wrote:Does no-one else find the '3rd party' situation both strange and suspicious? I've never heard of paying for golf membership through a third party before, personally I think there's more to this than is being let on. I can't believe any reputable golf club would attempt to do what is being said?

Might as well turn up and play.LeftfootlegendGooner wrote:That sounds pretty good, although i don't know about this 3rd party company that takes the direct debit, thay already charged my mate for trying to stop his.12thGooner wrote:In a nutshell i would cancel your direct debit and inform the club that you will no longer be requiring your membership with immediate affect.
This is essentially a change in your original terms and if don't agree to it, it voids the original one your DD was set up for.
Then if you want you can rejoin starting payments for december onwards.
Its pissed me off to be honest, i didn't play a ton of golf but joined because they were short of members and my sister asked me to support her husband, now the twat won't let me play the golf i have already overpaid for.
Yeah the 4 iron suggestion is making more sense every daylagerisgood1981 wrote:Might as well turn up and play.LeftfootlegendGooner wrote:That sounds pretty good, although i don't know about this 3rd party company that takes the direct debit, thay already charged my mate for trying to stop his.12thGooner wrote:In a nutshell i would cancel your direct debit and inform the club that you will no longer be requiring your membership with immediate affect.

By the way it's not legal for them to deny you a service (membership) you have already paid for*, unless of course they refund the remaining 3 months.
*Unless you have broken the terms and conditions of membership. (I'm assuming this would include whacking him with a 4 iron, if you chose that suggestion)
