The solution to our striker shortage?
Watching the game yesterday and thinking back to the Chavs game, it's clear that when we needed someone up top to hold the ball up we were seriously lacking. Obviously we're suffering from injuries at the moment but if we're still determined to win a trophy this season and Wenger keeps to his statement that he'll buy in January we need to ask who should he buy?
January as we know is notorious for a shortage of top European strikers for a few reasons. That's why I think we should look closer to home. What we need is someone who can hold the ball up, bring all of our players who will be buzzing around him into play, can score goals with feet AND head, has pace and would bring an extra dimension to our game.
Downside is that he's out for a few weeks but I think we should call West Ham's bluff, show them a few wads of cash that they need and tempt Carlton Cole to move across London. He was a constant pain in the arse to us earlier this season and I think and hope he's somewhere on Wenger's radar.
Agree?

I said in the January transfer thread that he is exactly what we need, and I stick by it. People dismiss him because he plays for west ham, but we've signed players from lower teams before, and Cole is clearly heads above anything they have. He's out atm but if he gets fit we could do worse than to sign him, particularly as everyone else we're linked to will take time to settle in

Here i give you a laugh, how about James Beattie of stoke
.he's good in the air, strong, got a good shot, holds the ball up well and does score goals and he be cheap after the ruckus after playing us.
Carlton Cole yeah good player would develop well here but as already stated injury prone. To get the striker we need i think we have to wait till summer....
or we could try signing these......

I think Wenger might have to get a loanee as the strikers we need are in teams still in europe or top of there league!! But if wenger did buy 1 of those girls i wouldn't mind.....

I would go for Adriano. he fits all the criteria stated by wenger; hes free, not cup-tied for the champions league.
hes a proven goal scorer, with a big physical presence and can head the ball. i say give him a contract until the end of the season and if it works out, extend it. i think its well worth the risk.

why the bloody hell do you think he's free? he has a contract with the champions in brazil, flamengo... they would not let him go for little...demzy wrote:I would go for Adriano. he fits all the criteria stated by wenger; hes free, not cup-tied for the champions league.

and even though i agree he's talented enough and has the physical strenght and height we need, he's a party boy who goes to training whenever the hell he wants and does not give a fuck about who he's playing for. i would not like him.
