The solution to our striker shortage?
the reason i said he was free was because im sure i read somewhere that his contract with flamengo had been terminated. obviously you know better, and i made a mistake.brazilianGOONER wrote:why the bloody hell do you think he's free? he has a contract with the champions in brazil, flamengo... they would not let him go for little...demzy wrote:I would go for Adriano. he fits all the criteria stated by wenger; hes free, not cup-tied for the champions league.
hes a proven goal scorer, with a big physical presence and can head the ball. i say give him a contract until the end of the season and if it works out, extend it. i think its well worth the risk.
and even though i agree he's talented enough and has the physical strenght and height we need, he's a party boy who goes to training whenever the hell he wants and does not give a fuck about who he's playing for. i would not like him.

no harm done, mate. his contract runs until the middle of next year, but that does not mean he can talk to other teams in january, it's not the same rules in here.demzy wrote:the reason i said he was free was because im sure i read somewhere that his contract with flamengo had been terminated. obviously you know better, and i made a mistake.

Stick Diaby up front..........he's deadly in front of his own goal!!
Seriously though - Luca Toni would be a decent shout, he's not playing for Bayern, he's 6ft 5", would be fairly cheap, if not available on loan.
His goalscoring record is excellent, here it is since 2003:
Appearance total on left, goals scored in brackets:
2003–2005 Palermo 80 (50)
2005–2007 Fiorentina 67 (47)
2007– Bayern Munich 59 (38 )
2009– Bayern Munich II 2 (0)

dude, his goalscoring record is horrible. it takes him infinite matches to score a goal (look at 2009!)TeeCee wrote:Stick Diaby up front..........he's deadly in front of his own goal!!

Is it just me or are we scrapping the arse out of the barrel here ? Carlton cole is an injury prone crock who has never ever shown he is a 20 goals a season striker or anywhere near it tbh
Adriano is a better quality player by a distance but given that wenger is prone to over-indulging his players the mind shudders to think about the potential disasters that would lie ahead if we signed a party animal like him
Going back to carlton cole I would have to say that I would agree with the suggestion here lately that kenwyne jones would be a far better option - he has pace, is strong and would, I believe, be more clinical in front of goals
Saying that I personally would accept not signing a striker in jan if wenger bought a quality keeper and quality dm instead (dreaming I know
)

Found this while trawling for granny porn..
i mean transfer news, just speculation probably...

Wenger will assess Arsenals possibilities in the transfer market over the next 4 games at Burnley, Hull, Villa and Portsmouth.Wenger will assess defensive postions as Sakho or Subotic are the ones earmarked.fee in the region of £8–12 million for Sakho and Subotic £13–15 million.Arsene will definitely bring in a goalkeeper as Almunia is not good enough.Robert Green the likely one for £6 million.Song will be missed as he will be on ACN duty.Wenger will look at Matuidi to add bite.St Etienne are struggling and could cost around £6–8 million. It was great to hear of Wengers rant at half time. The player needed it as they were poor.Arsene needs a attacker to play with Arshavin, Huntelaar or Chamakh will be great but Dzeko would be perfect for Arsenal.Arsenal have a realistic chance of winning the title if defensive additions are made.Arsenal need to shut out games in a ruthless manner which they lack.Overall wenger will look to spend around £20 million recouping £6–10 million in sales of Senderos and Eboue.Keep the faith fellow Gooners title is a distinct possibility.
