i think that the problem is the fact that almunia is the less terrible goalkeeper we have in our squad right now. considering that, the best thing to do is try to boost his morale as much as possible until you can buy a new keeper and dump him. meanwhile, it won't help us to take the little confidence he has away from him.

however, all that goes to the garbage if we don't sign a new keeper asap... i cannot believe that wenger may be thinking that almunia is good enough.

If almunia is the least terrible keeper we have then every last one of them should be sacked or sold or shot or something cos that is totally unacceptable to me :x At the very least those younger keepers must be as good as almunia and with their age have the real possibility of improving with experience (if wenger plays them  )

i'm only talking about flappy, 'cause you can't really put a 19 or 20 yo keeper in a top 4 and expect them to perform, unless they are true wonderkids like casillas... i actually think szczesny is very good and promising, but you can't do that, you may destroy the kid's confidence!

but still, i'm not sure if flappy is better than almunia. everytime he comes for a cross i shit myself...

Better get the gun then!

Augie, you'll be pleased to know that Wenger has given Almunia his full backing and insisted he WILL be playing tonight :?

Hope that makes you feel better, mate?!

Suicidal is what I am feeling mate  I have to say after getting 3pts last sunday and being on a high afterwards I have had the wind knocked out of my sails over this whole saga - I am really close to giving up hope of winning anything this season if wenger cannot see that this *word censored* is nowhere near good enough and I for one have had enough of his calamities this season

Please dont tell me that wenger is just bigging him up until he buys a new keeper in jan cos we all know that aint going to happen either

I've got a bad feeling about this one. Miserable, cold night in Lancashire with a dodgy left back and makeshift attack. Be happy with a draw.

Might need to start drinking soon.

Rebel, what was that stream you mentioned on a thread recently? :)

Must agree, why we ve bloody good money, to Vela etc. All he does is smile... :D He needs six months away in my opinion>! In regard to our LB situation tonight, GOD help us.

Once again had Wenger signed one/two extra quality players in the summer, this situation would not arise. I recognise he loves some of his guys  But Jesus this is so bloody frustrating when we could have a sustained run at the league.

2-1 would be a good result in my mind... :barscarf: javascript:emoticon(':banner:')

A win tonight would be a fantastic result and would truly put us in contention for the title. Obviously there's a long way to go, but six points out of six from Liverpool and Burnley away is title-challenging form. Add to that the fact that we've already travelled to Everton, Man Utd, Man City, Sunderland and West Ham - which are always difficult games - we're in a good position.

If we can just keep things ticking over until the January transfer window opens (or more likely, when Bendtner returns in January), then I'll be cautiously optimistic!

Remember, we've dropped points away from home to the likes of Man Utd/Man City, whereas Utd and Chelsea have dropped points in home games (to Everton and Sunderland) and away games (namely Wigan), so have got the difficult games to come; already with four plus defeats on the record.

In saying that, I fully expect us to lose to Burnley and witness Chelsea reclaim their lead at the top, completely undermining last weekend's mini-success. :banghead:
