did you cry in 1986?

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

did you cry in 1986?

Post by benglenton »

reading Irvine Welsh (my prefered author/writer) last book, Crime
i've read a story about jambos last game 85/86 season
they needed one point only at dundee
reading the book, seems mr.Welsh has been there because is so familiar and realistic that i found a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCjEsN4E85s showing wxactly same things wrote on the story...
obviously none cried here, i think, but anyone remember that day?
strange thing is mr.Welsh is a football fan
every book has at least one story/episode about football, matches, fight and hooligans
categories of his characters are
good (drugs-alchol-porn sex addicted) Hibernian fans
evil (same above mostly o.b.) heart of midlothian fans

anyway fantastic book and seemed worst day for jambos!!

Did I cry in 1986?

Up until August, I was 3. After that, I was 4.

I'd say it's very likely that I cried at least once in 1986

I'm not certain but I think 1986 might have been the year that I first tore my banjo string. If it was, then yes, I cried for fucking days

Never suffered from the torn banjo (thank Christ) but my mate Gary did. And the fucker kept whipping it out to show people too! You'd be sat in the boozer having a few nice pints and someone would say, "Aw fuck sake - *Scar has his cock out again..." and you'd look over and he'd be showing the wound to someone... :?

(*Scar is what most Garys get called in Dublin - Gary becomes Gar becomes Scar... )
