Alter-ego or not I often wonder if some Arsenal fans have really taken the time to consider our fall from grace over the last 4/5 years.

It's a hell of a drop to go from unbeatable to fourth place over that time and to see almost zero accountability for it.

As time goes by and if we still fail to challenge for the highest honours I'm sure expectations will be adjusted from season to season but right now those wounds are still pretty fresh and for me a lot of the frustration comes out as I guess I still see us a title challengers year in year out when the reality is that we are usually cooked by Christmas.

I think that's a little harsh. From my experience, i'd say it's the people that moan/complain that care the most about the club because it genuinely hurts when things aren't going well and they fucking bleed red and white. Agree with other aspects of your post though.

Im not on here enough to know some of those you mention but Augie certainly grinds, annoys and irritates. His negativity is however, well-thought and at least he says what he thinks. Just take comfort from his perspective, at least your not that critical and negative all the time, but don't personally attack people for what they say, just respond constructively if you think someone has said something unreasonable.

The 'fall from grace' has coincided with the stadium move though hasn't it? Some might say that Wenger guiding us through choppy waters & into the top 4 year in year out was as well financial must, a fucking great achievement when you look at the budget he had compared to what others have spent.

What did he ever really spend in huge amounts before the stadium move though?

If you look at the mainstays of the unbeaten team, Bergkamp was signed pre-Wenger, Vieira for £3.5, Pires £5m, Campbell free, Ljungberg £2.5m, Gilberto £4m, Lehmann £1.5m so you've only really got Henry at £11m who constitutes BIG money.

Lookings at it another way a good case could be made for Wenger being so stubborn he believes he can do it again, when all the results over the last few years point to the contrary.

Me? I'm in the middle somewhere. I believe we have a good base for a team who can really challenge but it is an absolute must to add at least 2 quality players ready to come straight into the first XI.

Criticism of the players (current) or the Manager (current) or even your dear friend Peter Hill-Wood - the Chairman - (current) does not imply contempt, or any hostility, for the Club - per se.

You - for example - might well be a patriotic Zimbabwean but you might not be entireley chuffed to bits with Mugabe.

If you think about it, it's not hard to comprehend.

All you do is think ----- Arsenal First............the rest second..........see.......it's easy...... 8)

Hang on, comparing the situation in Zimbabwe, to Arsenal FC is not only slighlty disrespectful to the people of Zimbabwe. But also incorrect as a comparison.

By ignoring the current players, the current manager and the current chairman is actually asking me to ignore the club as it stands...considering the manager has been at the club for 13 years, the the chairman for even longer, at what point do I recognise 'The Club', because, surely, they are integral to 'The Club'?

The fans are part of the club, but the fans are like an army, and the army should be there - no matter what - to support the club...in my opinion.

No ! All I am saying is that if you and I are Arsenal Fans, we put Arsenal first. Not the Manager.....not the Chairman........not any player.

If the Manager.....Chiarman.........even - shock - the majority share holder  .........anyone let's Arsenal down......then they let us down.

So it's Arsenal first and all other characters somewhere behind.

I'm sure you get it ! 8)

I agree with the original poster.

Yes people are entitled to their opinion and ultimately that is what a message board is all about BUT when then team put in the performances (results) they have then it will (possibly) comeback and bite you in the arse.

I genuinely find it tottaly amazing the stick some posters give out on this board.

To be fair i give them plenty of credit flying over from Ireland to games (big commitment) but some still give some players dog abuse, i cant get me round it.

In my opinion this squard is giving us a lot to be pround of.
