IS IT ME OR ARE MORE AND MORE TRAVELLING GOONERS DERANGED?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

IS IT ME OR ARE MORE AND MORE TRAVELLING GOONERS DERANGED?

Post by rolypoly »

I ask myself this question cos not sure if its me or everyone else apart from myself and my mates who are losing the plot.

Bucharest. In ground, near us one gooner insisted on spending the whole of the first 45 minutes singing Rolf Harris` Two Little Boys. I doubt he saw any of the game. He found it hilarious as did so many of the sheep around him who followed his lead. What is so funny about that song and what would possess any sane person to want to travel all the way to Bucharest to turn their back on the match he has probably paid a small fortune to see and sing for 45 min a rolf harris song? and what is so funny.

maybe it is me who has lost the plot but could someone explain.

the one consolation was the 9 foot sheep sitting in front of me leaning back and crushing my legs with back of seat would occasionally stand up to join in to give some much needed relief. Jesus. i would hate to be sitting behind him on aircraft.

Liverpool. in row 6 very low down and everyone standing up in front of me. blokes behind want me to sit and somehow or other its my responsibility to persuade everyone in front of me to sit.

I know I am old fart - 50 years of age - but Iwas totally bewildered by the determination of all behind to sit and their anger in particular as there was a much better view standing up than sitting down.

One bloke accused me of being selfish cos he may be disabled. I said that would be different but pointed out he aint disabled. He then said what if he was a 5 year old boy. I pointed out he was not a 5 years old.

What a moronic illogical argument and then this was followed by bloke no.2 behind accusing me of picking on him by standing up cos he is black and said i must be a member of the BNP. I pointed out i was jewish in which case i must be the only jew in the BNP. (no racial comments had been made at all).

I was going to tell a porky about having a west indian wife but i didn`t. bloke no2 was already stumped by the jewish bit.

and then at half time when you think all has quietened down , bloke no2 spends 10 mins telling me he don`t want to speak to me.

and i bet all these protesters are the first sheep to stand up at the command of "stand up if you hate tottenham"

2nd half was much of a repeat although when equaliser went in we all shook hands and everyone stood up in last 10 min.

could not help thinking what these gooners would make of visit to portsmouth.

god knows what prague will bring but please dont make me sit near rolf and his sheep or the non disabled non 5 year old i am not going to stand up at all costs prat.

so now go on- tell me that i am the one out of touch with reality.

sounds really stupid Roly, its shit like that that makes me want to go to away games, now it happens on the road too!??!!..
I think we should follow the leads of other clubs and be all standing at away games. Might piss a few people off but at least you know where you stand (no pun intended) when you apply for tickets..

And is it just me or do disabled fans get seats at the front anyway?

yes edge of town. thats what made bloke no1`s argument so deranged. at all premiership grounds i am sure there are areas for disabled fans of both teams

but where i was there were no old people no kids no disabled only morons all in need of anger therapy who would not stand even though view better and presumably only cos had paid for a seat.

as for you out there who aks whats wrong with rolf harris more to the point what is right with him and what is so hilarious about his song to make anyone other than a brain dead moron want to sing it for 45 min at a football match.

I remember a few years ago some bloke at Charlton complaining about the language of those around him. In his best Oxbridge accent he was telling the steward "I'm finding this all extremely uncomfortable" - so was I but that's because I'm over 6 feet tall. Obviously, the more he complained, the worse the language got, just for a good laugh rather than anything to do with the game.

I don't like people standing in front of me, but when you go away from home you have to accept it and learn to live with it.

I am all for standing at games, home or away and the sooner they introduce standing sections within the grounds again, the better. Then all can be happy those who wanna sit, sit, and if u wanna stand, stand.

I was at Liverfool this sunday and have to say thoroughly enjoyed the way we stood and voiced ourselves, heads up lads and long may it continue.

I am on the away scheme so will be looking forward to another standing vocal away fixture at Reading, this time with the right result and not another bent ref...

Ps if anyone has a MAN URE ticket spare, or knows of 1 would be grateful..
