bollocks. you say that only because we have a bunch of midgets in the attack. if we had a true striker like anelka you'd understand how important it is to have a fullback who can cross
It wouldn't matter if we had Peter Crouch in attack, the fact is that the back 4 players are defenders first and foremost and that is their primary job.

And as for the Anelka example - yeah, like he scores lots of goals from crosses out wide.  If you were going to use an example, perhaps Drogba would have been better. However, like I said, it wouldn't matter who we had up front, my opinion remains the same - defenders are supposed to defend!!

We havent had proper wingers for a while now. Arsene likes to play central midfield players like Rosicky and Nasri on the wings and they spend more time drifting inside. Thats why it becomes paramount for the fullbacks to be able to overlap and cross the ball. Regardless of whether we have a big centre foward meeting those crosses or not, you should be put the ball in the danger area, or at least clear the first defender. Sagna's crossing is shockinly poor, Clichy's isnt much better.

Even Sagna's defending has been suspect this season. But hopefully thats a phase that will pass. At the top of his game he is probably the best right back in the league and one of the best right backs in Europe but we havent seen that form this season.
