Cast your minds back to how we all felt after the thrashing we received from the Chavs. Just an acceptance that we were still a long way behind them but at least we knew where we were i.e in a battle for 4th place. 4 weeks later and bugger me, this time next week if all goes to plan against Bolton we'll be a point behind them.
What the hell are we supposed to think now? That we'll be in an excellent position for cementing 3rd or 4th place or that now we're in the mix for the title? And come to think about it if I'm thinking that, is Wenger wondering which it is too?!!
Watching them last night made me realise (and Wenger hopefully) again that if we had a Torres type player up top, someone who only ever thinks about leading the line, staying forward and just simply scoring, nothing else, then that could easily have been 7,8 or 9. All of that wonderful passing and moving would have had an outlet at the top rather than poor old Andrey trying to get in the game, or Bendtner going wide, or Eduardo desperately trying to get his confidence back etc.
I know it was a dreadful Pompey side last night but we did a great job down there. So once again, the hope is creeping back in, the hope that..........well, I don't even want to mention the C word (no **** I meant Championship)
Please Arsene, let me know what you're thinking cos I'm in danger of starting to believe really silly things again and I couldn't take another 2008.
Arsenal, PLEASE don't do this to me!

totally agree mate, we are looking good at the moment but i am trying not to get my hopes up, the same weakness that cost us in previous seasons is still there under the surface and i dread the match that it bites us in the arse.
still keep smiling while we have reason to smile and hope that everything continues to go right, at the moment there does not appear to be an obvious winner in the title race and we are as good as any team on the day
KEEP THE FAITH

Its easy to get excited given how things have developed in the last month. Certainly the team is in the mix right now but I am going to hold off on calling anything until mid February. Our success in the league is going to be determined by two things...
1. Will Wenger buy in January. I am starting to doubt this given what he said after yesterdays game about how he has to consider players coming from injury (eg Bendtner - so no new strikers) and players on the verge of regular first team action (eg Ramsey - so no new midfielders). My personal feeling is that we definitely need to buy in January but I think cover for Gallas and TV and a defensive midfielder are much bigger priorities than a striker at this point. We have scored 51 goals in the league so far without a so called target man therefore that is not our biggest need but I digress.
2. As a consequence of 1 above much will depend on the results from the back-to-back Villa, Liverpool, Chelsea and United. If we can get at least 7 points from these games and avoid an thrashing, we will be fine. The timing of any dropped points will also set the tone for the rest of the season. If we lose the first game, draw the next and win the last two it would be better than winning the first 2 drawing the third and losing the last.
