Islam4UK march; wotton basset

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Looks like things have got out of hand over there. Lets not let it happen here or we'll have to lock it.

My 2p worth. We need to differentiate between the politics of the situation and respect for the dead. I think both the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are a disgrace but that is not the soldiers' fault. They are just doing their duty, and making the ultimate sacrifice.

In a democracy we must have the right to protest. In this case the people to protest against are the politicians, so these guys should be marching on Westminster. It seems to me that trying to do it in Wooton Basset is just being deliberately provocative.

As I said keep it in order and remember this is not a political forum but we do occasionally go off piste.

Also, i think 'muslim' march is a bit off the mark. It's being organised by Islam4UK, a muslim extremist group. But fuck it, if they want it, lets have it.

Let it go ahead. Remind ordinary Muslims that they live in a fairer and more tolerant society than that which these extremists would like to create. Of course it's provocative, abhorrent and aimed at the wrong people by concentrating on the soldiers rather than the politicians. Frankly these people know that. Their aim is to create a confrontation so that they can recruit more Muslims to their cause on the basis that the West is racially biased against them (yes, that is nonsense but so's everything they say). If there is no confrontation then everyone simply sees this for what it is.

I've edited the title to take into account Mike's comment.

IF it's allowed to go ahead, they'll see it as a victory for their religion and organise a bigger one - people will be more inclined to join up if they know they won't be persecuted.

We should implement Sharia Law, but only for the extremist Muslims who opt in. If they march unlawfully, we should have a public amputation of their feet. "It's what they want".

I'm not anti-Muslim, i'm anti-extremist. If you allow religion to run your life, your life probably ain't worth having.

This is being done just create a scene. Muslims claim that they are persucuted but then they go and do shit like this! they don't help their cause when they go out of their way to piss people off.
Personaly I'd set up a GPMG at the end of the high street and as they appear I'd open it up until the barrel glows red.

I'd already joined the group. And signed the petition.

Not happy with some of the comments on there. Too many bnp types for my liking. The group was formed to protest about an extremist group's planned march. Not to promote racism. :(

You have to laugh when the odious man they have leading their group says that the white men should never be in arab lands while taking advantage of our hospitality and no doubt our welfare state.

It only requires a vocal minority of racists to give the impression of widespread racism.

There is a large Muslim community in Woking. We have the oldest mosque in northern Europe. Through various things I do, I have contact with some of the senior people in that community. They are absolutely horrified with what these guys are doing and are probably more against it than we are. The guys doing it are a fringe group like the BNP looking for publicity.

FYI as we have that mosque we also have the oldest Muslim graveyard in the country used to bury those Muslim soldiers who died in the 1st and 2nd World Wars as it was not feasible to ship them home.

Probably against their faith too. Isn't there something that says their funeral has to be immediate. I recall when Princess Diana died that Fayed had to be buried the same day or something :?

personally i'd let them have the march i just wouldn't provide the policing that there usually is on marches, just let nature take it's course.

I just had look on Facebook.

The site has been closed for a couple of hours. This is to allow time to delete racist comments. And anti-British comments.

They have been receiving about 500 comments per MINUTE.

Group membership is now over 538,000.

Hornets nest, or what?
