ADEBAYOUR IN ARSENAL TOP (TODAY)????

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

He had been telling anyone that would listen in africa that he was a top pro footballer and when it was time for his interview he went wearing a shitty shirt. :?

Of course no one in africa has ever even heard of shitty so they immediately thought he was a bullshitter and probably a local league player in some backwater :o

So he was forced to go and put on a REAL football top that everyone in africa has heard of and admires :barscarf:

So like it or not THE ARSENAL is his claim to fame
I think there is a lot of truth in this. Worldwide, Arsenal are a much more recognised team than Citeh. The "he wasn't thinking straight and pulled the first thing out of his bag" doesn't wash with me. For sure he is and will be emotional about the episode (who wouldn't be) but he must have looked at the shirt before he put it on and he must have had other garments available.

regardless of the reasons, i'd say its great reflection on us as a club that he would don our shirt for the world to see.

i still think he's a complete twat for his attitude and comments regarding The Arsenal and us fans but given the fact that he clearly knew what he was putting on (regardless of his current state of mind) indicates that we as a club still mean something to him, even if he no longer means anything to us. Barr re-sale value when city get bored of his bullshit and sell on quick style.

Maybe we should find someone who has suffered a similar situation and ask them what they did with clothing? I don't know what their answer would be but I don't think anybody can just say "he must (or musn't) have known" without being in the situation themselves. Yes I am guilty of that too

and wasn't his luggage in one of the shot buses? He may have run out of garments in the days since

But surely, Magic, he had people around him who could have lent him a shirt and told him what he was doing? Even the camera man or interviewer?? In one of those pictures he's surrounded by men in non-sport related items - he could have done a quick swap!

I think either he is really bloody stupid or he knew what he was doing would cause a big stir and bring the attention on him again. Unless it was a tribute to an arsenal fan on the bus but still, there are other ways to honor the dead than to piss off the people who pay your wages.

Notice how only Ade is doing interviews in this '3 days of mourning' and how he made a big deal about Togo quitting to leave and then said the opposite. The man is unbelievably self-invovled and attention seeking. That may be because he's poorly educated, surrounds himself with the wrong people or because he is traumatised BUT its still a fact.

Just thought, quite simply that no-one else on the togo team plays for Arsenal??? So he must have packed that shirt before leaving as no-one else would have one.

Did anyone offer? Do you really think the interviwer or camera man where going to do that?

Yes, Ade is giving interviews about the event, the press are interested in what exactly is going on+what happened and he is one of their most senior players, not a shock. I'm not surprised under the circumstances if Ade and Togo have been changing their minds about things, I imagine a cold, hard and rational discussion about what to do is not very easy given the emotions and now the politics going on above them

Sorry but he hasnt got one rational friend or advisor around him to say 'hey mate, wearing your old team's t-shirt on national tv, not a great idea'?! Of course he does!

And why declare a specific 3 days of mourning and then use it as a time to be the sole interviewee of the team on a press junket?

Most ofyour reasoning is of course rational in any other case but this is Emmanual Adebayor.

Poppycock!

He was with the Togolese squad (in a hotel presumably) and surely he has clothes other than football training wear? :?

and they didn't kick in when he was at Arsenal because? Why hasn't Terry and Barton's friends stopped them doing something stupid?

The press want to speak to a player from Togo, most will want to speak to their most well known player and their captain.

Sorry, why is it not rational because of him? Ade is a human being who has just suffered some trauma is he not? I don't think he is particularly bright, needs a media advisor and, at times, is nasty but he still went through something horrible

Once this all calms down, I wonder how the media are going to react to him wearing the shirt? And I wonder what Ade's answer will be :?

In due time lads

Because Terry and Barton wouldnt take their PR man/agent on a drunken night out. They would probably take them to an international press conference though.

Why is it not rational because its him? Because this is a man who is more concerned with goading his old fans than celebrating with his new ones; who is happy to risk letting his new team down by getting suspended for an irrational stamp; who will tell the press 'I'm sorry for what i did in the city game' one minute then mock the celebration and say its arsenal's fault for kicking him out and for the abuse the next; someone who will give 2 interviews in the space of an hour saying he is staying at arsenal and then that he isnt; someone who will talk up a move all summer and then pretend his phone has been turned off, someone who's stories constantly contradict both himself and others...

Yes, the man is badly advised. Yes, he's a bit thick. Yes, I've no doubt he has been through something horrible which i wouldnt wish on him. But I can't believe all his clothes were shot to pieces and all the multi-millionaire had left to wear was an arsenal t-shirt as you're suggesting...even if it was, make a little point that you're only wearing it because you've nothing else.
