Arsenal vs Liverpool August 1987

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

If you look at that pic its the people under the north bank roof that bring back memories climbing up holding onto a post, we played Liverpool in 1984 (i think) beating them with a Brian Talbot freekick i was 13 at the time and i climbed up some railings in the north bank so i could see and hung on for dear life for 90 minutes....

Health and safety wouldnt allow it these days
Hmmm, I was at the 87 and the 84 (?) Talbot free kick one, I can't remember too much about either game... :? Was the Talbot free kick scored at the clock-end... :? :? (my memory is useless)
Yeah im sure it was
It certainly was. I was stood behind that goal, a tiny bit to the right of the post. Think it was the only free-kick of that ilk Talbot ever scored for us!!
I'm pretty sure he scored a similar 2 free kicks in one game, I think it was against Man City at highbury and we won the game 4-0.... (I could be wrong though...) :? :?

In that case, your memory is better than mine. 8) Mind you, after all the years of smoking weed that I've done, my 80 year old mother's memory is better than mine!!! Or even a life-time drunk with amnesia.

PHP thats the one....you star!!! Thanks mate

Ahh the memories of that game have come flooding back...i remember that fella at the front of the roof...we all wondered if he would be able to get down. From what i recall, i maybe wrong, they were not even arrested when they came down lol

pre - Hillsbrough.......the days when H&S was certainly not on the agenda.

That 1984 match was in fact my 12th birthday, dad took me to that game when we beat Liverpool 3-1 @ Highbury....and yes Talbot's ala Platini free kick was clock end scored.

Cheers folks

Was this the season we went to Coventry and beat them and went top of the league.

Was a sunny day and there were absolutely 100os of Arsenal there, went on the pitch when we scored.

Great days.
