BEST IRISH BANDS

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

BEST IRISH BANDS

Post by goonersid »

Ireland for it's size has produced some grat bands/artists, as well as more than it's fair share of shite "boyzone" "aslan"
Here are my top 5 in no particular order, what's yours
The Pogues
Thin Lizzy
Rory Gallagher
Boomtown Rats
The Undertones (simply cos they're from Derry)

Note I haven't put u2 on my list, that's cos they are a shower of pretentious fucking assholes.

U2 were great in their day (1980s & early 90s) - but like many bands, they didn't know when to stop.

I see them in 87 at cardiff arms park, and I have to admit they were good, but now nothing more than over hyped pop band.

Stiff Little Fingers, The Undertones and Thin Lizzy..... I've never liked U2...

Incidentally, SLF are playing at the HMV Forum in Kentish Town on March 5. I'm going to get my tickets for it soon, if you like your punk music, and never seen them, Go.... coz they're brilliant.

Lizzy
SLF
Gallagher

Saw U2 when they did the "War" tour - early days etc....and they were excellenty - still hungry....now just a load of pretentious fuckwads...especially bono who thinks he's the next coming or something....Tosser

HotHouse Flowers (their album 'Songs From The Rain' is a thing of awesome beauty)
Pogues
BoomTown Rats
Undertones (Teenage Kicks one of the best singles ever!)
Christy Moore
The Chieftans (purely because I went to see them - about 10 years ago - I got totally shitfaced and they rocked the place - every fecker was up and dancing....and the security who tried to sit everyone down, eventually gave up!)

 :dancingbanana:  :dancingbanana: :happydance:
