Usual thread starter… I actually tried to avoid reading the views of other fans before I penned my own online ed. So, excuse any repetition but there are some unique points here too. I suggested Gallas for skipper back in ‘The Gooner’ last April, an unpopular view at the time. The idea’s certainly come into vogue now. I really don’t see Spurs going down though. Would be delightful, but it simply ain’t going to happen. There are so many teams down there on a similar number of points that no-one has been cut adrift yet.
Panicking Fergie factor a good sign (5/11)

While I agree with everything in the article (including the scum going down), I'm not so sure about the points made regarding out goalkeeper. The first goal went off Gallas' hand. It was a weak shot off Rooney to say the least but if Gallas wasn't in the way, Almunia would've had it covered. As for the second goal, the first blame goes to either Sagna or Walcott for not marking the run made by Evra. I'm not sure if Almunia came out before or after Evra got the ball which makes a difference because if it was before, Saha was covered. If it was after, and he would've stopped Evra's cross pass, he'd be a genius.

i think almunia saw that a shot could be coming in from the angle and knows he is very very weak against anything shot on the floor anywhere near his feet. remember the goals in paris? rather than face a shot like that, he chose to try and block it before a strike was made, in the process exposing his goal to a tap-in if the ball were passed back. almunia is very very poor on the ground when the ball is anywhere near his feet. it's his major weakness as a keeper and leads to him haring out when the ball is played wide of his goal. as happened 3 times during the second half. if a normal keeper had stayed in his goal he was he should have been able to deal with the shot. keeper is a weak position in the team due to jens' fading form and almunia's kamikaze runs. neither inspires confidence and that is a handicap.
incidentally, i don't normally post at this time of the morning but some prat outside has been playing music in his car with the bass right up. so loud it awoke me. should i put some tacks under his tyres for the next time he moves it or just let karma take care of him... decisions, decisions. or what particular substance poured on the bodywork would make him realise this kind of behaviour is a no no at 3am? i remember getting some drain clearer once that was 95% sulphuric acid...
