I'd be interested to know how you judged Hankin and McKernon to be shite when Hankin played less than 30 minutes of first team football and McKernon didn't play any first team football.Chunky The Gooner wrote: You missed out Ray Hankin Rebel and Craig McKernon

Kanu
How can anybody put him in their list of worst players?
That fella would make me smile and actually laugh out loud with some of the extraordinary things he did on the pitch.
And that hat-trick at the Bridge (particularly the third goal) is not something you see from a crap player.
Nobody has mentioned Vince Bartram. The bloke's nickname "The Clown" wasn't for nothing you know. But overall it has to be John Hawley for me. Bought from Sunderland on the strength of a 40 yard hit and hope that caught Pat Jennings out. The high point of his "career".

How can anybody put him in their list of worst players?...
ALTHOUGH NOT AS OUTSTANDING A SUCCESS AT ARSENAL AS I THOUGHT HE COULD AND WOULD BE - AND THIS WAS PARTLY DUE TO HAVING TO BATTLE DENNIS FOR HIS POSITION - I USED TO SAY THAT KANU WOULD DO AT LEAST ONE BIT OF SKILL IN A MATCH THAT WOULD MAKE THE TICKET PRICED PAID WELL WORTH IT!

ALL-TIME ARSENAL GREAT? PROBABLY NOT, BUT KANU IS CERTAINLY NOT WORTHY OF BEING LABELLED ONE OF OUR WORST PLAYERS, SURELY?

Bloody hell Bergkamp95, I didn't spot your inclusion of Kanu before, but that has got to be a piss-take! He didn't achieve his potential but he still did a lot better than most. Top, top player.I Hate Hleb wrote:TOTALLY AGREE WINTERBURNSRIGHTFOOT. I LOVED KANU AND THOUGHT HE WAS A VERY GOOD PLAYER.WinterburnsRightFoot wrote:Kanu ???????????Bergkamp95 wrote:Glean Helder

I was at The Bridge THAT day, and many Arsenal fans (me included) were directly in line with the flight of the ball for the third goal. That is one of the best and most enjoyable goals I have ever witnessed.
Now, Bergkamp95, apologise and recant!

I find this rewriting of history to read Perry Groves as a 'cult hero' as odd, I remember him being booed, largely for replacing much better players, i.e. Rocastle, Limpar, Merson, Charlie Nicholas.Slightly different spin on this one - players who we may have loved (or at least liked) but who, in all honesty, weren't exactly blessed with talent. So:
1. Perry Groves
2. Ian Allinson
3. Steve Williams
Anyone want to add other names?
The only logic I can ever see in George forever bringing him on as a sub was a) to take a long throw, b) to run down the clock c) to wind up Anders Limpar whom he seemed to have it in for.
Also Steve Williams, I remember him being OK, if a little hotheaded.
As for Kanu.....
1999-2001: No way
2001-04: argument for the steepest decline of an Arsenal player.
Lee Chapman - never saw him for Arsenal, yet seemed to score against us forever after.
Hawley - Never ever saw him.
