He has always struck me more as a shot stopper than a 'keeper who commands his entire penalty area a la Schmichael. This Is The Daybreak wrote:I never felt this about him last season...thaught he was a decent goalkeeper, never a world class keeper and always regarded him as a keeper who would never win you a game but would also never lose you a game.
Anyone remember the first leg against Manchester United in the Champions League, he pulled off a couple of genuinly world class saves that game and was dominant and commanding, since then there has been a rapid decline starting with letting in that 35 yard free kick from ladyboy in the second leg.
When called to make instinctive saves he seems to be able to do them, as we saw in the CL semi at OT last season. When he has time to think about things, he invaribly either makes the wrong decision or makes no decision at all.
Too often during the last few seasons I've seen Gallas shepherding a through ball into the penalty area while screaming for Almunia to come off his line to collect the ball. He should know that the penalty area is his domain, a place where he should be taking charge.
I dont think I'll get over this until we win the thing but this is probably, for the stage it was played at, two of the softest ever Champs Lge Final goals
I said that night he should never ever have had the chace to wear the Arsenal shirt again but tbh I wasnt surprised, as enjibenji will testify On the day on the Final, I said to him "just say if Almunia played" and when he came on my heart sank, as there was mistakes in him
A mate of mine who is an ex-international said to me he should be ashamed of himself and when you've someone who has played at international level telling you that, it says it all.

Recall a game against West Ham where he won us the game with a key save or two. Think it was against West Ham and one of them was a save against Bellamy if my memory is correct.
Same here.As soon as the balls past the back line, I've personally no confidence in him making the block. I soley relying on the player to miss.
