Maxton, whenever somebody is critical of Arsene Wenger we always get this type of rant from somebody. Get a grip mate.
First let me state that I believe Arsene Wenger is the best manager we have ever had.
However, for the last few years, myself and a lot of others think he has lost the plot with some of his managerial decisions.. I have kept on giving him the benefit of the doubt because we have never really known whether his decisions have been made on what money there has or has not has been available.
But, enough is enough. He has NOT moved us on in the last four or five years. He seems to have only one tactic. A short, quick, passing game to feet. That’s it. Teams have learnt to let us do that all day until we get anywhere near goal and then they put lots of players behind the ball and try and hit us with a counter attack. Against a lot of teams in the premiership this is a good enough ploy. But if it doesn’t work we’re stuffed ( as was made abundantly clear on Sunday). We have no other plan or players that can play any other way. As manager, Wenger is to blame.
Added to that, we have far too many players that simply are not good enough. Anyone who watches Arsenal regularly can see this. I won’t name individual players now, as this has been argued elsewhere before, but Wenger seems not to see what the rest of us do. We also have no strength in depth. Okay, so we have been unlucky with injuries this season, SO GET SOME REPLACEMENTS IN! Again down to Arsene.
We qualify for the Champions League every season, a fantastic achievement. However, this seems to be our only goal. Make sure we finish in the top four so that we have enough money to attract players good enough to ensure we finish in the top four so that we have enough money to attract players etc etc etc………… Unfortunately this is at the expense of the other two cup competitions. And every season, as Del boy says “It’s Déjà vu all over againâ€

Get a grip
Well played Maxton
The only reason I look at this website it to get aggravated by most of the posts. (I think I need therapy!)
Most of the contributors show all the qualities of a dog except loyalty.
The ring leader would appear to the Editor Mr Whitcher whose sole job it seems is to moan about everything and anything to do with Arsenal. That's why I gave up paying for this rag at the ground.
Unfortunately as with most things in life it is the silent majority that goes unheard and asylum escapees like Mr Whitcher, Gooner Pete and that other half-wit The Highbury Spy that make their voice heard.
Let's see if they can start a 'Wenger Out' chant at the ground and see if they are speaking for the majority!
Keep up the good work

I don't want Wenger out but Gooner Pete is spot on. Wenger has been wrong. He has my support to get it right and has had throughout, including the last 5 seasons. Trying to challenge Chelski and the Mancs without a centre forward, without a competent goalkeeper, with a complete inability to play without the ball and with the most one dimensional squad I have seen in 40 years of watching Arsenal is not just bad management, it is negligent and dishonest.
As a long standing supporter I've earned the right to express my opinion and I am fed up with being told to f*** off and support someone else when I do so. I am an Arsenal supporter, not a Wenger supporter. For too many supposed Arsenal fans, Wenger has become synonomous with the club. I know what he's done for us and don't want to lose him, but I am not blind enough to think that someone like say Hiddink couldn't do a great job for Arsenal. Arsene's reaction to the Utd defeat was interesting, I can't remember him being so critical of the players publicly. Maybe he has learnt something. If we don't see the evidence that Arsene and his staff are acting on the obvious that we have all been seeing for years (can't defend setpieces, can't take corners, no real width, don't stretch defences but try to play through them, lack of aerial power, too many players that are too similar, can't defend against the best opposition etc) then I can only draw the conclusion that he is no longer the man for the job. I live in hope that we will see the evidence.

For those who are ashamed of the doubters.
Reading Maxton piece reminded me of an old boss I had, whenever anyone complained about some of the unsafe practices on the shop floor he would listen for a few minutes and then come out with his favourite line.
"If you don't like it f*ck off and get another job" we would laugh and joke about how many seconds it would take before he resorted to his tried and trusted mantra.
One of the reason I enjoy the Gooner publication is because it has real fans giving diverse views and sometimes the truth hurts.
However I would suggest anyone not liking some of the "X rated" comments on our website or in the pages of our monthly review, get on Arsenal TV it is perfect for the "Arsene knows" brigade, the sun always shines on ATV, poor goals conceeded become a fluke or the forward did n't mean it, players not good enough are always to be given time and thrashings are either a learning curve or a key moment in the game that went against us. Any agitator ringing in is quickly given the Tom Watt smouse treatment and by the time the caller puts his phone down the world is a beautiful place again, all that for just £3.99 a month.
For the record I don't for moment want AW to go but I do want him to put someone between the sticks who can now and again keep the ball out and a public flogging for any of our players who ever again swap their shirt with an opposition player!

Presumably sitting confortably in your armchair watching Stoke and Man U breeze past us is in crunch games as your therapy of choice!?milesgooner wrote: The only reason I look at this website it to get aggravated by most of the posts. (I think I need therapy!)
Considering the manner in which we lost both games was predicted by all the criticisms of the 'dog' contributors maybe its them onto something and you and the author on a band wagon...

Same old Arsenal always moaning
That's the great thing about the gooner and most of its "contributors"
1) The board are rubbish - yeh let's get in a billionaire or someone with some money. Looking at Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and over half the other premier league clubs I know who I'd rather have.
2) The manager's lost the plot - Let's get a big name foreign manager in - and as soon as Barcelona/Madrid/Milan come in for him he'll be off cos loyalty is something that can't be bought.
3) Arsenal are no longer a club they are a business. Curse those people from Emirates, curse the box holders, curse the club level, and the price of season tickets, oh and why don't we spend £30m on a forward? Moving to our new ground was the only logical step to make, and I couldn't give a monkey's what it is called, and if a few thousand corporates help pay for it - good!
4) I've supported Arsenal for blah blah years but I won't be paying any more money to watch mediocrity - Are you boys sure? I mean really sure? I go to Arsenal to be entertained, have a pint with my mates and to support my team and 95% of the time I come away happy. I sat through 10 years of absolute dirge between 1975 and 1985 - that was mediocrity!
Most of the 'day release' commentaries I see on this site seem to be massive over reactions to the duff 5%. There seems to be plenty of people willing to point out what the problems are, but not many come up with any viable solutions.
We are in danger of replacing Chelsea as the most ungrateful fans in the league. They booed their team after losing their 100% home record (with a draw!)
I sit with about 15 people who all meet down the pub and we regularly moan, question the ability of some of our players and the manager's decisions. But all of this is kept in context of the best decade both on and off the pitch this club has seen in over 70 years.
Anyway I'm going back to the main page to get wound up again
Can't wait till a defeat to Chelsea leads to a meltdown at Gooner towers!

Concur 100% with 6ooner pete.
Manager comes and go, players come and go (or at best retire from the club).
Fans cannot, they're stuck with the club whether they like it or not.
If I was first dropped on a football stand at WHL instead of Highbury 30 years ago I would have laughed my balls off last Sunday. It's that simple isn't it?
Criticizing the manager is lack of loyalty? Since when is AW a member of the communist politburo? My loyalty is spending an average 250 quid to see an ordinary home match. Yes, thank you for your continued support will Arsene say in his weekly newsletter, haha!
So telling a fan to shut up and change his jersey is stupid and a bloody insult.
You should be ashamed of yerself comrad Milner.
Secondly, AW is getting obsessed with tomorrow, a stubborn arse and a (tactical) goose if he thinks he can compete with chelski or manure for the P' league cup.
Giving away the FA cup that easy 3 weeks ago was a bet on the wrong horse and his last reasonable chance to pick up any silverware this season.
Then the CL? Don't let me laugh, he said his current squad is the best he/we ever had. That's bullocks, when we reached the CL -Final against Barca we had the likes of DB10, TH14, Pires, Toure, Fabregas, Hleb, Cole, a mixture of experienced world class players and promising youngsters.
To attract world class talented players you either need money, or a prospect for picking up silverware or even better, both. For Arsenal that will be silverware as we can't compete with the sugar daddy clubs.
So what lurks ahead is that when we continue to fail in picking up any silverware season after season, we will start loosing interest from the players we need if, as like AW has been stating all over again, Arsenal belongs the big four and should be competing with the european topclubs.
Finally a word about RvP;
It is the second time he get's injured for a long time while playing a shitty international friendly. To pick up one injury may be regarded as a misfortune; to pick up two looks like carelessness.
What does AW do? Instead of buying a striker in the january transfer window, Mr Bean tries to claim the dutch FA!
And yes, ofcourse AW has done a LOT for Arsenal so my suggestion is, to rename the hemorrhoids into the Arsenal Wenger Football Stadium.

Wenger has worked miracles with relatively little compared with the billions pumped into Chelski, Glazer Corp, Citeh and even Hoofpool.
I too enjoy watching our mostly talented squad - OK not Almunia or Denilson - we have an exciting team at a great stadium.
Wenger's strategy may not - scrub that - will not win the Mickey Mouse and Worthless Cup but as long as we routinely hit the top 4 I'll accept those as development opportunities for the kids and be reasonably content.
And one day I do believe it will all come good - think the wilderness years leading up to '71 and '89 and go compare with today.
Maybe the 'Wonder of You' is Arsene's choice - "When no-one else can understand me, when everything I do is wrong..."

IF WE HAD MONEY WE WOULD SPEND IT !

I do have issues with him for having too many mini-size players, and the lack of plan (b) when a goes wrong but I can live with it.
What I find harder to take is the constant whining from wannabee journo's from the Gooner or the balance sheet boo boys preaching ante Wengerism at us incessantly us as if we are itinerant schoolkids who just don’t get it. If there was money it would be spent trust me !
I’m also weary of threads from people who claim to have watched The Arsenal for 30/40/90 years and use it for a prefix to their bullshit in order to validate their poisoned outpourings.
I ran coaches in the 70’s and trust me none you lot were on them ,furthermore more likely than not we were the only people from Arsenal in the ground so if you think you get a medal for turning up at the Ipswich Cup Final then you’re very wrong.
The rank and file of this Club support the manager, if you don’t then either shut up or stay away for I tell you right now there are a lot of people who watch Arsenal who dream of building a bonfire with copies of your Organ and set fire to the lot such is their disgust of your constant public betrayals of our famous club.
Personally I’m against such a move, I think the army should be doing that instead of assisting Heroin production in Afghanistan, seriously though , I am so sick to death of your constant whingeing and whining from the anonymity of the keyboard that I have some sympathy with their fantasies.
Hold on, I’ve got it, you could do the Brave democratic and honourable thing, why don’t you organise a Wenger out demo at the Liverpool game, and see if the public supports you?? I wonder how long it would last???? not long I’ll wager ............I like it go on dare you ,no I double dare you !

Agree it's a tumbleweed moment. Or prehaps the lads are at home spray painting "Wenger Out" onto their nylon bedsheets in time for the micky mousers tonight.

Re: IF WE HAD MONEY WE WOULD SPEND IT !
There is no argument there whatsoever, just empty rhetorics and cries of "if you don't like it stay away/go support Chelsky/manUre" But your wish might just come true because people are having enough of forking out £60+ to watch Almunia scoring own goals, Wallcott doing 30 meter runs into nowhere particular, Bendtner missing from 5 yards and so on, if I want to watch Groundhog day i'll get it on play.com...Herd wrote:Quite a strong argument there. I see you are getting tired of this and that, but peculiary, you're not getting tired of Chelsky and ManUre humiliating us now on regular basis and Citeh being on a way to do the same *we conceded 10 goals in our last 3 visits there). Do we have to wait till scum from shite hart lane starts beating us regulary before inevitable happens.
No player is bigger than a club and same goes for a manager. And certinaly no one is irreplacable.

Many of you have opinions that Wenger is to go but I've yet to hear a single positive, like ,who would be better, given of course that WE HAVE NO MONEY .
Jesus ,Frodo Baggins,or Bruce Willis are not going to burst in and save the Arsenal and there are no big name managers who would come to a selling club who will not or cannot splash the cash.
Few or any of you ever saw the worst of the 70's Terry Mancini,John Halwley,Rankin et all ............this isnt the 70's and we are still 3rd .
You don't know how bad it was but trust me ive been in home crowds that frequently were less than 20 k and remember going to West Brom away and counting 78 people in the away end !
The fact is Arsenal fans have become the product of the me me me thatcher years ,instant gratification or die.
