SONG AT BACK TONIGHT?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

AGREE THAT HE HAS DONE OKAY SO FAR BUT BEAR IN MIND THE OPPOSITION HE HAS PLAYED IN THAT POSITION AGAINST.

I ALSO AGREE WITH EDGEOFTOWN THAT HE STILL HAS TO LEARN THE POSITION PROPERLY, AND THEREFORE I WOULD HAVE EXTREME WORRIES IF WE HAD TO PLAY A TOP SIDE WITH HIM AT CENTRE-HALF.
AND THAT MIGHT VERY WELL HAPPEN IF WE PICK UP AN INJURY OR TWO IN DEFENCE DURING KOLO'S ABSENCE IN JAN AND FEB.

ALTHOUGH GOOD IN THE AIR, SONG HASN'T LEARNT YET WHEN TO TACKLE AND WHEN TO LET THE ATTACKER HAVE THE BALL. ALSO, HE HASN'T GOT GREAT PACE AND THEREFORE HIS POSITION SENSE - OR LACK OF - IS EVEN MORE CRUCIAL.

HOPE THE KID PROVES ME WRONG BUT, LIKE EBOUE, I DON'T THINK SONG IS INSTINCTIVELY A DEFENDER, AND I BELIEVE THAT YOU NEED THOSE KIND OF PLAYERS - THE ONES THAT KNOW HOW, WHERE AND WHEN TO PUT IN A CHALLENGE - IF YOU WANT TO WIN TROPHIES.

altho song has been quietly reasonable this season, i dont think he was particualrly good last night - he lost his man a couple of times whilst defending corners and set pieces and was at fault for tavares' (i think) free header during the 1st half. I think secretly he's a striker
