Gilberto- What a Ledge

Post by EdgeOfTown »

Take note Jens, this is how you react to not being in the team:

I'd love to see him offered a new contract and he seems the type that would be happy to play on a year-by-year contract, he hasn't been in the team but his impact on our start to the season off the pitch cant be forgotten and this latest interview proves- Gilberto: True Gooner.

well he did take been dropped in good form,,
the problem with a guy at 30 is that he will prob want one more big pay day before he retires,, to be honest i will be surprised if he's still here in feb unless he's back in the middle along side cesc

Gilberto will not be an Arsenal player next season. We have Diarra who has really impressed in his apperances so far to take Gilberto"s place.

I think with the season just gone, its naive to think we wont struggle with injuries this season..We've already made a mistake letting our 4th centre back out on loan, and as a result we're covering defence with whatever midfielder can do the job..
Yesterday goes to show without a few key players we will struggle, and the balance of the side still isn't right so I think we need to think more about adding to the squad and keeping the current players there rather than shipping more out..
If we lost Jens and Gilbero I could see us really struggling for experience in the 2nd half of the season where we could be challenging for 4 trophies

I have to agree with Donaldo as much as i like Gilberto but i reckon there is tension between Wenger and Gilberto at this moment in time.Would love to see him stay but its off to Juve in the summer i think.

It certainly appears that the Boss has prepared a replacement for Gilberto by signing Diarra - but he is still the man this season and I really hope he gets back in the team soon.

I have no words for the man. Firstly not getting captaincy then not getting in the team now he wants to finish his career with us. 8)

yep. Do we really want to get rid of these sort of players?
Bear in mind Diarra's threatened to leave already and Flamini, for all I think he's commited it wasn't long ago he was prepared to buy out his own contract!

Has Diarra threatened to leave? When was that?

about 2 weeks after he got here..
Not a full on 'get-me-out-of-here' but obviously wasn't happy at being out the team..Shows the difference between a true Arsenal man and someone who wears the shirt.
Gilberto's shown us loyalty, I'd be disappointed in the boss if we didnt do the same..

I do agree i think Gilberto deserves some loyalty from us but Wenger always seems to get out players at the right time so if Gilbertos time is up i dont see any way back.

I also think that a team needs a mixture of young and old and Gilberto would be a valuble asset to keep for the next couple of years on his day he is as good if not better than Flamini
