Many views but no replies about the article so I am going to post the opening reply.

While what is happening at the club is not just the manager's fault. I think it is more to do with the entire culture at the club, starting from the Board.

We are breeding a culture of mediocrity, which is what has spread properly at all levels within the club.Even to a large part of the fan base.

We are happy to finish in champions league places, which is a must for the club. But why not fight harder in the cups?If finishing 4th is good enough, why not put out a full team for the FA cup?Surely that is manageable. Why perpetuate the myth that we are challenging to win the Premier League and hence ignoring the cups?

While nor spending irresponsibly is an admirable trait in any club in these times. I think the lack of any real accountability is the problem.

The goals set for the season are more to do with finance than the fans, which again is good business sense ,but lack of respect to the paying and steadfast fans.

We need to make the first step and win a trophy , only after that can we get the habit of winning that this team needs, to win the premier league. There is no shortcut, you cannot go from winning nothing to directly winning the premier league.

JUST DEFEND!

Post by loz »

Bring Keown or Adams in to teach them how to defend. Utd and Chelsea generally play a defensive game against us. There priority is not to concede and catch us on the break. If we'd have done the same against them and turned the losses in to draws we'd probably be favorite's for the title.

That was a very good article and although the "true fans" - (The Wenger can't be criticized and neither can the Board, brigade) - would see it as more whinging from fans who they think should follow someone else, I would pose the question to them - "What do you do if you feel you are being taken for a ride ?'

Do you really just sit there and say and do nothing ?

At least one alteration Wenger could make at minimum financial cost - always the primary consideration, is it not  - is to revamp his backroom staff and try to find his Peter Taylor.

It is no coincidence that Ferguson, every bit as stubborn as Wenger, has an active No 2. I cannot know this but I suspect Wenger's staff simply echo his thoughts and put the cones out.

Do we need a defensive coach ? You bet we do !

Just as we need another keeper and at least one more - I'd prefer 2 - central defenders.

Above all we need something that takes us beyond the tip-tap-flick obsession of the Manager and pose opponents far more questions that we are currently asking, once it's clear that ttf isn't going to work.

Very good article.

The lack of funds for transfers has been happening for years now, not just under Wenger, but also under previous managers, Graham springs to mind.

We've never retained a premiership crown, because we've never invested in new players and improved the squad for the following season. Other teams aren't stupid, they clue up on teams they're playing and suss them out, unfortunately, this is where we've constantly fallen down on. Man U always improve upon premiership winning squads, we don't and never have and never will.

Whilst we finish at least 4th every season, the board will be as happy as larry, something has got to give soon, because the natives are getting restless.
