We dont have money to spend!!!!!
Forget the propoganda coming out of the club, forget what the board or the manager have been quoted as saying, its rubbish.
But there are so many post with people saying why didnt he spend in jan, we've got £30mill to spend.......its rubbish.
We didnt buy because we dont have the money. Forget what the club are saying, were paying off a new stadium which is a better signing for the long term than any player.
£30mill your avin a laugh.

I've said before that I don't think the board gives the money to the manager. Arsenal have never ever significantly backed a manager, despite the club being one of the richest in the country. Wengers current situation reminds me of Grahams, in that we were told then that we had the money but only small purchases were made due to the board unwillingness to back Graham to go out and sign the top players. It was the same with Terry Neil and Don Howe before them.
Both times with Graham and Wenger, they've lucked out in that both had a habit of developing young players and thus keeping Arsenal steady.
Personally if Wenger does have the money I am convinced he would sign players. I mean i understand in this transfer window not being able to find a striker, but there are other problems and I can't see how a man as intelligent as Wenger cannot see them. Personally I believe he is asked to toe the club line.
Just my theory

It could be that there are no money available and Wenger takes all the blame to protect the club. I think he would do that.
I don't believe it is the case though. There is a plan in place to pay off the stadium. Just because you take on a mortgage to buy a house it doesn't necessarily mean you're skint for the next 20 years. It's probably more like Wenger doing what ever he can to pay it off as soon as possible if anything, as The Emirates was (& is) is project.

Food for thought, I think there's more to the situation than what meets the eye.rigsby wrote:I've said before that I don't think the board gives the money to the manager. Wenger is an intellegent and World Class football manager, he can see some of our players arent good enough, but he wouldn't say it as its unprofessional to slate your own players.
I honestly think that the problem runs deeper and a change in management wouldn't change anything.

Ok, never having played under Wenger or having been a board member I can only go by that but the vast majority of third party anecdotal evidence points to Wenger having more power than any manager in living memory, with the exception of Ferguson.rigsby wrote:I've said before that I don't think the board gives the money to the manager. He designed the stadium, training ground, resists boards wishes to go on pre season tours of Far East or America, chooses playing style, was doing player transfers with help from Ken Friar after David Dein left etc.
The board are in awe of Wenger.
