As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

We could have built a stadium nearer the M25 for half the money. I'm sure people would forgive an extra 15 mins on the tube if we were successful on the pitch.
Oh, absolutely not. I didn't want to leave Highbury at all, but the only saving grace is that the new stadium is right around the corner.
Ultimately, the time spent paying off the new stadium will be a drop in the ocean of Arsenal FC's history. If we finished 15th every season until the stadium was paid off I'd be content.
Not being able to buy anyone is going to be fucking aggravating for as long as it lasts, but a concrete bowl on the M25 would've been an unbearable permanence.

Do you honestly believe that ? History is littered with examples of clubs that believed that there were only going through a blip and would soon return to their rightful place at the top only never to really get near those heights again. Do you think back in the late 70's and early 80's forest would ever have pictured a fall from grace so severe ? When villa won european cup back in the 80's do you think that 30years later qualifying for a mickey mouse euro league would be the height of their ambition ? Ditto that for everton.
Anyway the point I am trying to make is that you cannot assume that in 15/20 years time when the grove is fully paid for we will once again assume control of the game in this country cos life dont work that way

Exactly and a takeover at some point could mean all this thriftyness is for nothing - just lining the shareholders pockets
