As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Of course it should - just like Man Utd's game with Milan is and as Chelsea's will be when they dismantle Inter with obvious ease.

Remember our road to last season's semi saw us wobble past the mighty Roma (they who scraped into the top eight in Italy) before despatching the mighty Villareal.

First decent oppo that comes up and we're out. I take us to win the return 4-2 with more comic book defending. We must then pray for Fiorentina or Olympiakos before the inevitable humbling occurs
Yeh? Decent opposition such as Real Madrid and AC Milan..

This result needs to be put into perspective, we were missing the spine of our team, Gallas, Song and Arshavin, we were playing a side who have only lost once at home all season and who smashed Athletico Madrid in both matches in the groupstage, we gifted them the first goal and the second goals was unbelieveable on so many accounts, we've scored an away goal, and fuck me we'll hammer these tossers at home.

We've seen it before, we can beat anyone over two legs

Agreed they are a very average side and both goals came from individual errors which makes it all the more frustrating. I agreed with the so called experts and thought it would be 1-1, I knew we wouldn't have enough to win but I thought we would be tight enough defensively. Wrong again.

They will be a different proposition over at the Emirates though. We SHOULD have enough to get through.

Away to Porto

Post by Old Oak Gooner »

Second post here chaps so go easy on me! Watching the game tonight if we get our big players fit for the second leg, we can beat Porto, their goals tonight were by major mistakes by one player, thought Sol was awesome tonight, like he had never been away, but the goalkeeping situation has to be addressed-we are on our way :barscarf: .

To be fair, not many teams beat ManUre, Liverpool and Chelsea over 2 legs!

IF we get through I'll be delighted obviously, but a big part of me will be shitting myself at the prospect of getting a right hiding in the next round off one of the big sides. Because, if we get Barca, Chavs, Madrid or United we will get tanked.

Funny thing is with Football, United and Chelsea have both done us twice this season, wouldnt it just be typical if we turned them over in the champions league and had the last laugh.

On the other hand, we could be battered and embarressed.. lol

We are going to lose even the half decent ones. Fabregas had a shite game but why should he always carry the can. There are 11 players on that team and how many of us would be bothered if he buggers off to Barcelona.

Play with Bendtner,Walcott,Denilson or Messi,Iniesta,Xavi.

Said it before and will say it again, if we don't buy and sell smoe shite big time in the summer...he will walk. If he doesn't then he's a bottler, NOT loyal like some would delude themselves because only a loser stays where he's surrounded by complete an utter shite
You have just compared Barca's best three players with 3 players that dont start for Arsenal when eveyone is fit...that is a bit silly!

The depths some fans will go to so that they can clutch straws never ceases to amaze me  Porto beat an ath madrid team that was at that time in the bottom 3 of la liga and have only lost once at home in a league that is only fractionally better than the scottish league  If missing 3 players is a reason or excuse for this level of ineptitude then I am sure the travelling Gooners in porto tonight will be very understanding

What's the point, do you honestly think we won't get turned over by all the other teams left. There are only 4 teams left that can win it IMO and they are Manure,CSKA London,Barca and as an outside bet Bayern. All of those would turn us over something rotten. I'm for us getting a bloody nose if it spurs someone into action to sort the team out.

What winds me up is not making even the average teams work hard to get a goal against us.

Qualify so a good team can piss all over us....you would be happy with that would you :banghead:

I think you might find that in the case of Madrid away we had one of the best strikers in world football playing the lone attacking role - perhaps you fancy Bendtner's chances of carrying that off. Anyway, the Goon In Charge has banned injuries as an excuse for this game (and given his inactivity in the window I should fucking hope so too)

And Milan away - yes, Adebayor - what did we do with the money from his transfer

Why not go back further and bring up the 5-1 away to Inter ?

This ain't the same team.....

And as for the other points:

1. Lost at home once all season in the Portuguese league - brilliant - hats off. How many have Rangers lost at home in their pub league ?

2. .....and that would be Atletico who are 11th in the Spanish league and looking like relegation fodder earlier this year would it ?

Sorry, not convinced

Of course if Fuckianski had a brain he wouldn't have taken the chance and would have just kicked the fucking thing up the pitch to start with... :banghead:

Am I right in thinking this arsehole is Henry's best mate from the France v Ireland game? And he's an official world cup ref... Ooh, I hope Engerland don't get him in a semi final, lads... :?

Where he royally fucked was before that because if you look at it again sol didn't mean tha backpass, it actually ricochets from one foot to the other and is unintentional.

Missing the point slightly aren't we....the squad is so average that it's the best we can do right now.

BTW Walcott when fit has been first choice on the right in the past so don't know what you mean there. The other first choice would be who Eboue,Rosicky.....
