Arsene Wenger - your time is up (19/3)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but this is just daft. I think 'The Gooner' should post these articles as we are all entitled to an opinion. The poster was obviously fucked off after another inept away performance against an average side and flipped. However, AW is only rivalled by the great Herbert Chapman in relation to what he has done for our club.

Long live the King.

Someones got to give The Spy a reality check here. I'm f*cked off like the rest of you about it but I remember only a few weeks back reading his article in the gooner about how exciting it was to see the kids play the phoney russians in Cardiff and about how much class we have, etc, etc.

Yes, Arsenes subs leave a lot to be desired sometimes.

Yes, we need a central defender who can handle set pieces and a player that can offer some width.

But no, we can't compete with Chelsea and Man U at the moment in transfers so Arsenes policy is the best for us at the moment.

I've got faith in Wenger and ultimately he's proved me wrong before building the teams he has and getting results with what i thought were average players (with some exceptions).

The problem is the choice of captain not choice of subs. Not one leader like we used to have in that squad. Until Wenger addresses that he can make subs and we can blame whoever we want. So many times this season we've thrown away our advantage because no one has led by example.

Rant over.

I actually dont think any of you are listening to me and unerstanding what i am saying. My comments do not deserve the responces I have had. I am a die hard Arsenal fan and a season ticket holder. Like I keep saying Wenger is an amazing manager and the best in the world and yes he cant be replaced. BUT for god sake its now time to lose his principles and look at where we are going wrong! I mean does he do shooting practice! Every watcher, spectater, commentator and fan in the world says the same negative thing about arsenal when we loose. Never pulling the trigger, always scoring the perfect goal and never winning ugly. We will be like that for the next 5 yrs if Wenger doesnt make changes. Gallas him self said he would rather win trophies! then lose and play nice football!

Sometimes its good to share your thoughts with other arsenal fans and be heard!

Arsene Wenger - Your time is up

Post by samwell »

PLease tell me whoever wrote this was just trying to provoke a reaction and not a serious Arsenal fan...We play beautiful football, the best there is. WIf winning was everthing then we would all support Chelsea. Yes it can be frustrating when it doesnt come off but Wenger has proved he knows best time and time again. Dannyboy you sound like a Chelsea/Man Yoo fan... do you settle for the first bird who shows an interest so you have a girlfriend you dont fancy or do you try your best for a good lot?

please please could anyone who agrees with this shit
especially those who think they 'deserve' trophies 'cause they buy tickets
just stop attending games

we have a huge waiting list of ARSENAL FANS
who would love to see our team play

on the same note:
HIGHBURY SPY OUT!
I used to buy every issue of the Gooner - I've paid for it in pounds, euro's and in roubles

whilst Highbury Spy has a column I will not buy another issue
and I encourage everyone to join in with this boycott

Ok guys, will you still feel the same about wenger every season for the next 5 years when we win nothing but finnish 3rd or 4th and play nice football, signing great 16 yr olds.

All im saying is wenger must STOP spending all his money on youth, we have a great bunch of youth's now. ITs time to sign these so called 'super stars' maybe a little bit of english grit in defence like Woodgate. A natural finnisher like Eto, Torres or Villia. Then we will start shooting, start scoring and stop conceding on set peices because we all know this is where we are going wrong. Im just saying that our weakneses are the getting the BASICS wrong, which should not happen in the premiership!

if u had even the vaguest clue about football you would know the basics are the hardest thing to get right
the only way we can compete with chelski or manure is a long-game

by all means don't wait
forget five years
fuck off now - go support chelski
they seem more your kind of club

You are all mad!

Next year when we win nothing and finnish 4th again I am going to be the only realist and you lot will still think everything is going to be ok and we will start winning!

I never said i wanted Wenger out, I have as much praise for him as you lot. Its a free country and this is my opinion, you lot are just being stubborn. Can no one see where he is going wrong here, we were so poor against liverpool. It just isnt good enough for such a large team with huge ambitions. If Wenger doenst buck up his ideas I can see Gallas, Henry, Fabregas and Rosicky all leaving.

He made some bad decisions this year and last year. He has been promised some money in the summer and he must use it wisely on a striker, and 1 or 2 goal scoring midfielders.

Ok - so everyone is entitled to their opinion, no matter how much most people might disagree with it. But please, Dannyboy, stop panicking. Who isn't frustrated at the way things have gone this season. But we've been playing attractive football for 10 years now, so don't blame it on that. And, and this isn't a criticism, its the only way Arsene knows how to play. We've never won back to back Premierships, so every other year all the slaggers have a field day...and then we come good again. The press were merciless when he said it was possible to go a season unbeaten...until the invincibles came along! Changing virtually a whole team, and the emergence of Chelsea, has meant that this time we've gone all of two seasons without winning the prem - but don't lose faith - and don't throw the baby out with the bath water. And feel free to keep spouting your views.....but expect to get slagged off for it if everyone disagrees!!!

I agree with ShiftyGooner - This is a board level problem, they could get away with it at our beloved Highbury because of the lack of revenue through less attendances.....BUT now we fans are paying top dollar for wayching our team play at Ashburton Grove. £66 for grade A games is a lot of dosh and the board needs to invest...yes invest in its main product - the team.
Wenger is doing his bollocks, working to a very small budget but unlike Moooriynno he does not go crying to the press & media everytime the Russian blanks im.
Liverpool will spend big, Man yoo always invests after a title win (just to sharpen up the squad) and chelski ......well they just do it to stop other clubs from buying.
AFC are in a predicament and need to keep up with the investment, we need a couple of British lads as well - Wenger always played Parlour in London Derbies and tricky away games - coz he got stuck in and ran his bollocks orf....ere I saw a good central midfielder who played for Reading against the spuds, ginger hair called Steve........DOH!!!!!

Anyone who say's Wenger Out should just walk 3 miles up the road and buy a scum season ticket or better still just lay in in a gutter and look down a drain. Give the boss money and we're start doing it again its that simple

its a bit harsh to be calling for his head...

its been a long time coming for the Arse to hit a spell which is below Wenger's own high standards...lets face it, theyre probably below low standards as well!

leave him be is all i say, call for a player's head, eboué perhaps? maybe, but i suppose that would be a different thread...

I think poor Danny Boy has been harshly treated here. I think it's important for us to recognise when Arsene Wenger has failed just as we praise him when he sucseeds.

I personally think that Arsene is being too stubborn with his ideas and if he doesn't start changing them soon he is in danger of completely destroying the team.

Sacking him would be too far but perhaps its time that someone on the board had a quiet word with Le Professeur.
