As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Sol must be looking at our keepers and thinking "WTF has happened here?" having been used to Seaman and Lehman.
We'll beat porto 3-1, at home.
Also, the more I see their second goal the more annoyed I get at the ref, he just casually hands them the ball, then blocks Sol. I mean how can he not get done for that? The ref must get an assist for that surely? It winds me up that the commentators blame our players for switching off but Sol tried to get back but the ref was in his way, how could the pundits not see it?
Finally, love Cesc's post match interview as he comes off the pitch as he clearly says how he feels. He done it at liverpool done it again tonight. How can this team win anything when the goalies are chucking the ball in their own net?
Fabregas on what went wrong: "Schoolboy goals. What can you do? Nothing. Nothing to complain. After the second goal, we went down. We are still a little bit soft in that aspect - when we concede a goal we are not strong enough to lift ourselves up. Until the second goal we were having a very good game."
Now that Fabregas has said it, I hope a recognition of what part of the problem with this Arsenal side is - the character of the side. Were are the people to lift the team, to keep things going, to get through when things are tough? there is not enough of this going through the side, not enough cohesion in the team, a will to battle.
People can say till there blue in the face that out players compare favourably to other teams, but in doing so would miss the point.

Agreed. In any good team the whole is greater than the sum of it’s parts. As a team we’re not even as good as the sum of our parts, and a lot of our “partsâ€

Yes, Marc, I think it goes hand in hand to how many times, we've looked the better side and lost (especially this season)
What chances did we create outside the goal? Rosicky's passing was poor, Nasri flattered to deceive, Cesc spent more time shoving then creating, we overhit our corners most of the time.
Thought, after a shaky start, we defended well (Clichy took way too long to settle into game) but two errors from the keeper cost us. Hopefully Fabaisnki will be better once he has a run of games in him as we can't afford another performance like that
Im not worried at all. Porto, AT HOME, playing literally their full strength squad could not score a NORMAL goal against us AT THEIR HOME, with us lacking 5 or more MAJOR PLAYERS--song arshavin persie gallas almunia.
So we lose 2-1, but hey, we gained an away goal! We did not have a real STRIKER against porto and yet managed to create chances. ( bentdner, nahh not really) . In the second leg we will also have eduardo back, along with arshavin so bye bye porto.

most people would have taken a draw as a decent result
(even if injuries are not used as an excuse)
Porto, with a massive helping hand from the ref, got the absolute maximum they could from the tie
if Fabianski had been injured and they'd pulled me, pished on Port, out of the stand to play
they would only have scored one (that diving save to the right Flapianski made would have been a stretch too far)
but I would have toepunted the backpass with my eyes closed
and stuck terrified to my line as that cross went along the six yard box
lets put this in perspective, even if we accept the goalies horrific worst I've ever seen errors wr inevitable
we should have had a pen and the ref gets an assist for the 2nd goal
people talk about the ManUSA v Milan game - DID YOU SEE THAT GAME??!
Manure should have been out of the tie inside 10 mins
Milan could have had 4 or 5, if they'd played Inzhagi instead of hapless huntelaar manure would be out
porto got 150% of what was possible against us
and we can surely win at home - lets not top ourselves yet
