Theft

Post by Master Gooner »

Dear Gooners

I write to tell you that a thief has been at work and stolen a collecting tin which was used to collect funds for GOSH through Paul's sponsored laps!

Sometime between Wednesday 17th and Saturday morning 20th February, someone stole the collecting tin from the Park Cafe in Aubert Park Road. Our friends who own the cafe, tell us that the tin was nearly full and probably contained upto £200. Paul is very, very distressed by this, one thing he hates is people stealing from kids who really need help! although this incident will not stop Paul from doing the event, it has reduced him to tears today, lets remember he finds these things very difficult to deal with because of his head injury and it has seriously damaged his morale. If anyone hears or knows who may have done such a disgusting thing please can you let someone know.

Thank you for your support.

Best Wishes

Jane and Paul

If the tin was full and containing nearly £200 why was it left in a place where it was easily stolen?

Seems like a scam to get a sympathy collection from this forum?

Accusation From Hugh Jardon

Post by Master Gooner »

Dear Mr Jardon

I think your accusation towards Paul is unfounded and disgusting, you don't even know us and you certainly don't know Paul. Please meet us at block 98 Orange Quadrant at the next home match where we will gladly discuss your accusation. Everyone who knows Paul knows he's an honest unselfish guy who despite his own difficulties thinks there are people in this world far worse off than he is. How the container was displayed is of no responsibility of Paul's, the cafe couldn't attach it to the counter because its steel and they certainly aren't required to drill through their furniture to help any charity. They did this as a favour for the kids of GOSH and those who may use it in the future. If you think its a scam, then please call the police and lets see what they have to say. Your comments are hurtful to a man who has fought hard to recover from a serious accident and who nearly lost his life, he would prefer not to have any publicity but has been persuaded by GOSH and Arsenal and many, many friends that to reach his the target set it would be right to publicise the event, this goes against his principles but he has reluctantly conceded to go with it and raise funds for a great cause.

Not only has the person(s) responsible stolen from the kids, they have also stolen from hard working people who saw fit to donate to GOSH through Paul's event. The reason Paul is doing this alone and not on the 'Be A Gooner, Be A Runner is that he doesn't like attention. After discussing the matter with people around us and friends we have met on here, we thought you should know about the unscrupulous act that has taken place!

Yours Jane

Jane,

I posted on your other thread before I saw this.

I'm really sorry Paul feels disheartened by this and I hope you find the person responsible.

He should be proud of his achievements and I hope to spot you at Burnley as I didnt see you today.

Basil.

Lower Podium

Post by Master Gooner »

Hi Sarah

Not sure if you're joking but in case there's a mix-up where we call it lower podium level it's the lower tier I am talking about.

Best Wishes

We had to stop putting collection boxes out in the bank. Quite sad really, but unless they were chained to the desk they were stolen every time.

Donations

Post by Master Gooner »

Hi Gooners

Despite the theft of the collecting tin yesterday, your donations totalled £500.78 yesterday. We want to thank you all for your kind support and donations to GOSH and we look forward to seeing you at Stoke, they have allowed us to collect again which is a boost.

Best Wishes

Hi Jane, I wasn't joking Basil & I sit together in the lower tier but of course the lower tier spans the whole stadium. I thought you meant there was a small podium somewhere I didn't know about! Sarah

Paul,
kepp your chin up pal. You cant save all the people in the world from acting like the scum that they are!!!
Your cause is a reminder that with all the banter that we have on this forum there is some serious issues that can be highlighted by your efforts. G.O.S.H is a great set up and they deserve every penny that you can generate, so if ya see paul pop a few quid in the pot.
Oh and "Hugh" maybe get off your arse and do something more constructive rather than have a cheap shot at Pauls misfortune. He works hard to make a difference for a good cause so next time have a think first eh!!!
