Away Trouble
Away Trouble
What happened in the away end yesterday?
There were loads of police in there for ages and a couple of fellas led away...it was, for a few minutes, more interesting than the match!

Dunno. Was North Upper and could see them leading the lads away but not what had happened. Maybe someone sang a song or something equally shocking!!!Robsy wrote:What happened in the away end yesterday?

- and obviously the stewards were petrified that this would lead to a domino effect, so they got them out the ground before it became Hillsborough MKII

"Arsenal Lead the Way With Sobriety Tests"
Arsenal Football club have introduced a new entry system at their state of the art Emirates Stadium. From next season supporters will place their membership card into the slot as usual. This will trigger a small tube to appear from a console above the slot. Supporters will have to blow into the tube and register "Total Sobriety" for the turnstile to be activated. Supporters failing the test will be denied access. After three occasions their membership will be revoked.
In other news, the club has announced that the price of alcohol inside the ground will be increasing by 30%. This is due solely to insurance rises and is not linked in any way to the sobriety tests employed to gain access.

I was beside their fans to their left and I think that it kicked off nearer the family enclosure and there did seem to be quite a few involved. Credit to them though cos their fans def gave it some welly all during the match although there was one oldish *word censored* (in his 50's I'd guess) who was near us and he wanted a few slaps badly

there was a fair bit of trouble. A steward got arrested for hitting one of our fans (the steward had told the lad to sit down, the lad said "fuck off and get a real job", the steward hit him and the sunderland lad put the steward on his arse by all accounts- both were arrested).
A bit of in fighting between SAFC fans, and a lot of people pissed off because the stewards were asking SAFC fans to sit down whilst not doing anything about the gooners who were standing up in the next section. Someone said something about a steward getting smacked about in the concourse but i havent heard anything more than a rumour about that
A lot of the time these stewards bring the problems on themselves, as do the police who banned alcohol on the way down and back from the game, meaning that people had to neck a few pints in double quick time before kick off

Ironically it's usually the other way around - gooners being told to sit down whilst the away fans get to stand all match.safcftm wrote:there was a fair bit of trouble. On a personal note, I hope you had a good time safcftm down in London and that - despite the result - you thought the trip was all worth while.
