I agree that it's OTT to talk about dominance: United clearly have buckets of talent and also have a lot of young players who'll be around for years to come. And Chelsea, much as I hope they start to fall apart, are also still very good. Abroad, both Real and Barca have looked very impressive, and Bayern may be finding their feet again.Galasso wrote:While it's nice for a spud/crunt/bollox to see the light, I find this kind of thing a bit over the top.
I hope the team don't start believing the hype as they will be in for a heavy fall if they do.
But Kitson's analysis is very good. The Invincibles side was a great team all the way through, but the magic of the side was in the moments of brilliance Henry, Pires, Bergkamp etc could conjour. This side looks different, it draws on the team dynamic, quick interplay etc, it's really about how the players in this very well integrated and balanced team work together. As Kitson says, it doesn't depend so much on individual players, even a genius like Fabregas. Even with RvP's occasional moments of magic, I don't expect us to score the extravagant goals we scored sometimes 4 and 5 years ago, but I also think this side is better equipped for success, essentially by passing other teams to death and retaining possession.
So, dominance, no. But success, yes.
