If you've never seen your team play...

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

If you've never seen your team play...

Post by Monostich »

Are you a "true" supporter?

I always try and get to the home games where and when I can, even though it's a bloody rip off these days. Last United fixture I went to was against City at home, in the league cup.

What do you make of the "arm chair" fan who watches every game on tv but has never been to see his team play? Are they "real" supporters in your eyes?

it is the difference between a 'fan' and 'supporter'

hate, them, especially if they get all mouthy when their adopted team-they've-never-seen score.

that champions league semi hurt so much in aberdeen :(

Same here mate, totally agree. It's all very well being the "big man" on an internet forum but try putting that energy into actually making an effort to follow your team home & away. There are too many mouthy people who watch their illegal streams week-in, week-out but have never seen their team actually play live. I find this baffling.

I used to go home and away when I was young and had no other commitments. Nowadays I get to the occasional home and hardly ever go away.
Do I feel less of a supporter? No, not really.

Monostich,

Are you just coming on here just to wind everyone up?
Because it is getting very boring.

How the hell is this thread a wind up?

If a Gooner had created it, fine. Because I support a different team from you this thread is automatically deemed "a wind up"?

Your tickets are half the price of ours.

I've not missed a home game in all competitions since May. Throw in a handful of aways since then, domestic & European, and i'd like to think I put the effort in even if the players/manager dont always seem to.

Yes but you've been to see your team play and you still make the effort to go. I find it very difficult to get to Old Trafford these days as well, I only saw United play 9 times last season for example.

+1

I used to go all the time. Now as the prices have got silly and I go when I can afford it. Am I an bothered by what other people think ? No Ive done the Terry Neill and Don Howe days so Im not a JCL or Glory Hunter. Its all about the money now if I could afford to go every game home and away I would but I cant.

I think you have started it just to annoy a certain person on here.

But thats only my view.

There are endless reasons that prevent passionate fans from watching their club live.

If you're deeply passionate about your club, then what gives anyone the right to label you as a "real" fan or not?? - it's not exactly something you can measure, is it?

It's a personal thing, and if your football club is in your soul, and you deeply care about them, then that's enough for me - regardless of whether you're a season ticket holder, Diamond Club member, father of 3 who can't afford to get to games, or even a fan living in Timbuktu.

Couldn't you have just pm'd brazilianGOONER that question, because that's clearly who it's intended for  your running fued with him (you've even called him a plastic  ) is getting boring.... stop dragging us all into it.

This has nothing to do with Brazilian Gooner! I have no problem with anyone here, he's good fun actually :)

I thought this would make an interesting topic of conversation?

Please, mods/admin - lock the thread if you think otherwise.
