As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I most certainly am not.
Me and 5 Jnr have a superb time at the matches. He started off pretty quiet but now joins in for most of the singing. He loves a pre game bet on the first goalscorer. We never leave early. And he probably went as wild as I've ever seen him at the Spurs game.
Only drawback is he fucking loves "The Wonder of You" and even plays it on youtube at home.

Agreed no 5 I took my littlun (7 at the time) to the Bolton game (2-0) a couple of seasons ago, and we were sitting at the interface between both sets of fans, and he was on his feet shouting at them, all the most childish and innocent of abuse,(bolton are bozos!) but it was funny.

Fair enough Nr5, my point is a more general one that one the whole young fans dont/won't have the upbringing in football that maybe the more senior fans did, and this, coupled with the immediate nature and use of technology, means that a sense of belonging to a whole that is not dictated by the club, seems to get lost.
Kids aren't really going to footy on their own like they used to, and the congregation of like-minded people is more and more difficult. They will be used to this "new" version of football.
While there is alot about football which is better now, the experience of going, for me, is not....and I wonder how it will be when this generation of youngsters are the majority.

There is a simple solution mate, you need to start having as much unprotected sex as you can with the riff raff off the council estates and then start taking your chavvy offspring to the ground.
Well, I get the impression this thread was a bit of a pop at BG by Mono, but I notice after BG's excellent, heart felt post Mono has not replied...
Personally, I find it a bit much a Manure fan having a pop about "foreign" or "non-local" fans. In Ireland the Mouser, Gooner and Manure fans are the biggest groups of fans. Out of them, the mousers and Gooners travel to matches in England and Europe in HUGE numbers. We spend a hell of alot of money doing so. Even the small number of Scum fans here travel regularly to games.
But the Irish manure fans? No. They are mostly billy big bollocks on Monday morning in work but have never actually travelled to a game. That is why they are the most hated group of fans over here. I honestly have more respect for the scum that travel to shite fart drain than the armchair manure fans that have jumped on the post Sky Manure bandwagon.
Most Oirish Gooners and Mousers would have started following their teams because of the Oirish connections; players etc, and because it is a far supperior quality of football. Having said that, alot of those fans would also attend Oirish league games too.
Every season I used to attend 10 to 12 home games, at least 1 or 2 Europeans away and a couple aways in Engerland since 1991 when I could afford to piss huge ammounts away on travel, match tickets, food, beer and hotels (and this was before Ryanair and their regular cheap flights). Nowdays I'm married with 2 kids and a mortgage (and a nice 19% pay cut thanks to our cunty government) so I just cannot afford to get over regularly anymore. Do I feel less of a fan? Do I my bollocks. I've probably spent more in one year of following the Arsenal than most mancs spend in a lifetime.
For me Mono implying that foreign fans are not "true" fans is about as relevent as him claiming to be a "true" fan even though he now lives in Wales. You can't have it both ways, mate.

Mate, you shoulda heard Dublin's finest Mom and Son (9 or 10?) combo fetch up last week up in our block. Fcuking hilarious. Everybody was a "c**t" Everything was a "fcukin c**t". She was even addressing her offspring as a "c**t". He was giving out about "c**t" this and "feckin bunch of feckin c**ts" that. At half time she called a mate "You'll never feckin' believe where I am you c**t. In the feckin c**tin Emirates with this little "c**t. Watchin these set of c**ts...
"Move on up" sent him into orbit.
